    Abstract: The invention relates to readily dispersible pigment formulations which are stable to flocculation and are used for pigmenting naturally occurring and synthetic materials, preferably paints and printing inks, plastics and lacquers, in particular stoving lacquers. The pigment formulations contain compounds of the general formula (I) ##STR1## in which Q.sup.1, Q.sup.2 and Q.sup.3 each denote --X--A, --OR.sup.1, --SR.sup.1, halogen, --NR.sup.2 R.sup.3 or a radical Q which is built up from up to 15 trivalent groups (Ia) such that in each case one group (Ia) is bonded via W to a free valency of the next group (Ia) or to the triazine ring of (I) and the other free valencies are bonded to --X--A, --O--R.sup.1, halogen or --NR.sup.2 R.sup.3, at least one radical --X--A being present in (I), and A stands for an aromatic system with 2 to 6 rings and at least 9 ring atoms, or stands for a group of 2 to 3 aromatic ring systems, bonded via O, S, CO, SO, SO.sub.2 or C.sub.1 -C.sub.

    Abstract: Prepration of N,N'-dimethylperylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic diimide (DMP) ##STR1## in high-hiding pigment form by reacting perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic dianhydride with methylamine. The reaction is carried out at 40.degree. to 200.degree. C. and the excess methylamine is distilled off only after the perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic dianhydride used has been fully converted to the methylammonium salts of the corresponding N,N'-dimethyldicarbamoylperylenedicarboxylic acids. The temperature is held at 140.degree. to 200.degree. C. after, or after and during the formation of the DMP. The resultant highly crystalline crude pigment in aqueous suspension which has a mean particle size D.sub.50% (mass distribution) of 0.15 to 0.4 .mu.m and a mean length-to-width ratio q950% (mass distribution of the pigment particles of 10:1 to 3:1, is grounded in aqueous suspension until the mean particle size is 0.1 to 0.2 .mu.m and the mean length-to-width ratio of the pigment particles is less than 5:1.

    Abstract: A method of determining radiation doses by evaluation of nuclear tracks in an irradiated foil of track recording material through the use of an electrochemical etching cell which is subdivided into two chambers by the foil with the irradiated side of the foil contacted by a mixture of an etchant and a solvent and the opposite side of the foil contacted by an electrolyte and with a first electrode immersed into the mixture and a second immersed into the electrolyte, the method including the steps of: (a) applying an alternating voltage across the two electrodes establishing an electric field through the foil; (b) etching the nuclear tracks by selective exposure to the mixture for a given period of time in the presence of the electric field; (c) continuously recording the electrical capacitance between the electrodes during the performance of step (b); and (d) comparing the electrical capacitance reached after a given etching time with a calibrated value for obtaining a measure for the radiation dose.

    Abstract: Radiation curable adhesives which are based on ionically polymerizable epoxide systems and ionic photoinitiators of the triarylsulfonium complex salt type additionally also contain at least one ethylenically unsaturated substance which can be polymerized by free radicals and at least one free radical photoinitiator. These exhibit particular advantages in the gluing of optical glass components. The gluing can be partially hardened with UV radiation until fixing of the glass components is achieved. In this partially hardened state, the components can be adjusted. Complete hardening is then carried out with UV radiation.

    Abstract: Process for the preparation of pigments of the anthanthrone series of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 denote chlorine, bromine or iodine atoms or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy groups, having valuable properties, which comprises first converting the anthanthrones of the formula mentioned, in the form of the crude pigment, in an aqueous alkaline medium and at a pH>10, into the leucoform, precipitating the latter by adding inorganic or organic acids, reoxidizing the aqueous suspension of the leuco-form to give the anthanthrones and subjecting the resulting finely divided pre-pigments of the formula mentioned to a solvent finish.

C. to 150.degree. C., and isolating the pigment in conventional manner.

    Abstract: Preparation of 3,4,9,10-perylenetetracarboxylic acid diimide by fusing naphthalene-1,8-dicarboxylic acid imide with potassium hydroxide and sodium acetate to give the alkali metal salt of the leuko compound of 3,4,9,10-perylenetetracarboxylic acid diimide, diluting the melt with water when the reaction has ended and oxidizing the leuko form to give the 3,4,9,10-perylenetetracarboxylic acid diimide, by a procedure which comprises(a) applying a vacuum of less than 100 mm Hg before the naphthalene-1,8-dicarboxylic acid imide is introduced into the potassium hydroxide/sodium acetate melt, heating the potassium hydroxide/sodium acetate mixture to 200.degree.-300.degree. C. and dehydrating it such that the melt is still stirrable at 200.degree.-220.degree. C., and then introducing the naphthalene-1,8-dicarboxylic acid imide or its sodium or potassium salt into the melt at 200.degree.-220.degree. C. under normal pressure and heating the mixture at 250.degree.-300.degree. C.

    Abstract: A cutting oil suitable for the working of nonferrous metals, in particular for milling and engraving copper cylinders employed in gravure printing, is based on fatty acid esters of monohydric or polyhydric alcohols in an organic solvent which is selected from glycols, oligoglycols, polyglycols or their monoethers, diethers, monoesters or diesters, and also contains a surfactant, preferably an anionic surfactant. This oil enables outstanding and trouble-free working of metals and is distinguished by being completely removable, without regreasing, in an alkaline degreasing bath.
