In order to be able to avoid in such cases expensive compromise solutions, it is disclosed to have one or several vehicle components, to be correspondingly correlated with the coil spring, project in between turn portions of a spring turn that has a larger lead as compared with the regular lead of the coil spring, or pass such components through the expanded spring section of the coil spring.

The axle arrangement includes a wheel guide having an upper and lower split link for a wheel carrier. An instantaneous center located, in a rear view of the axle arrangement, a longitudinally extending center point of the vehicle is determined through the upper and lower links of the wheel guide. The instantaneous center travels out of the longitudinal center plane of the vehicle toward one side of the vehicle during a cornering. The links are constructed and arranged such that the instantaneous center shifts toward an inside of a curve during a cornering of the motor vehicle.

Respective wheel carriers are pivotable under an influence of a longitudinal force acting on the respective wheels about an instantaneous center of rotation, present in a side view of the wheel suspension, due to the fact that elastic resilience is provided in at least one of the connections to the vehicle body formed by the wishbones.

    Abstract: An axle carrier for motor vehicles having two side members extending in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle and two transverse members which connect the side members and are connected to the side members so that the corners at the point of connection are rigid or stiff with respect to moments about a longitudinal axis of the side members. These side members are constructed as hollow profiles which are resistant to torsion and to bending and, in a region of the respective ends thereof, are provided with openings for accommodating elastic supporting elements enabling the connecting of the axle carrier to a body of the vehicle. The axle carrier connection for the wheel guide members are provided only on the side members. The transverse members are formed by open profiles flexible to torsion, with respect to their longitudinal axis, and resistant to bending in a vertical direction transversely to the longitudinal axis.

    Abstract: An independent wheel suspension for driven rear wheels of motor vehicles, which includes a wheel carrier guided through five single links articulated on the wheel carrier side and on the vehicle body side. The lower articulation for the wheel carrier is formed by a longitudinal link extending obliquely forwardly and inwardly as a compression strut and by a transverse link, with points of articulation of the compression strut and transverse link on the carrier being located near to one another. An upper articulation for the wheel carrier is formed by a transverse link, as a camber strut, and by a forwardly extending longitudinal link as a tension strut. A track rod extends in a transverse direction of the vehicle with a wheel spring suspension, formed by a shock absorber and non-guiding spring. The compression strut extends obliquely forwardly and inwardly with the transverse link, functioning as a spring link, in carrying the spring and shock absorber.
