  • Patent number: 5823487
Abstract: An articulated support assembly for a computer keyboard. The assembly includes a generally U shaped rigid support member, and a platform for supporting the keyboard pivotably mounted on a central portion of the support member. Projecting end portions of the support member are pivotably mounted on attachment members fixed to the bottom of a table or desk top. A releasable friction clutch restricts pivotal movement of the platform around the central portion of the support member. A releasable ratchet assembly prevents revolving movement of the central portion toward a lowered position relative to the attachment members. A switching mechanism can be manually activated to release the ratchet assemblies and the friction clutch so that the position and orientation of the platform relative to the table or desk top can be adjusted.

  • Patent number: 5206914
Abstract: An acoustical transducer unit mountable in a speaker enclosure with a speaker opening adapted to face a user's ear, and a method for manufacturing the transducer. The transducer has a pair of opposing plates spaced apart a predetermined distance and a diaphragm physically connected and positioned between the plates, though electrically separated from the plates. The plates are adapted to be connected to an audio signal source, while the diaphragm receives a bias voltage. The transducer is mounted in the enclosure facing outward toward the speaker opening. The diaphragm is formed of a flexible substrate material such as MYLAR.TM.. A substantially infrared transparent material is deposited onto each side of the substrate in a thin layer to arrive at a transducer which is at a much higher level of performance than those of the prior art. The deposited material is infrared transparent so as to permit the deposition process to proceed without substantial damage or distortion to the diaphragm.

  • Patent number: 4152379
Abstract: A gas humidifying device is disclosed which includes a generally enclosed chamber defining a water reservoir, and an umbrella-shaped member positioned in the chamber with its downwardly facing peripheral edge normally extending beneath the surface of the water in the reservoir, whereby the interior of said member defines a gas accumulation space in contact with the water surface. Gas inlet means are connected to the gas accumulation space for introducing a dry gas to be humidified; and gas outlet means are connected to the chamber, and communicate with the chamber which is external to the gas accumulation space within the unbrella-shaped member. At least portions of the peripheral edge of the umbrella-shaped member are upwardly displaceable from the normal position to a position above the water surface and such displacements intermittently occur as pressure builds up in the gas accumulation space in consequence of gas flow proceeding to such space from the inlet means.
