  • Patent number: 7171168
Abstract: A transmitter includes a power amplifier which is capable of both linear and non-linear operation, controlled by first and second control loops. A power controller includes a capacitive component, and controls the gain of the power amplifier. A ramp generation circuit provides a control signal to the power controller. It includes a ROM which stores ramp data values based on samples of a predetermined ramp shape. The ramp shape is based on a generally regular profile C, for example a cos2 or cos4 function. The ramp shape also includes a boost portion BAP, which enhances the ramp data values before the beginning of the generally regular profile C. The boost portion BAP causes the capacitor in the feedback loop of the relevant control loop to become fully charged more rapidly, which produces a corresponding increase in the output power of the power amplifier shortly after the generally regular profile C is applied.

  • Publication number: 20060205428
Abstract: The invention concerns a method of providing a Push-to-Talk (=PTT) based communication service to subscribers of the PTT service by means of a PTT server which dynamically creates a PTT group. A requesting subscriber sends a call request message to a PTT server. The call request message is analyzed by a request processing unit and the data gathered from the analysis are correlated with profiles of subscribers of the PTT service. Based on the correlation results, the PTT server dynamically creates a PTT group comprising the requesting subscriber and one or more subscribers selected from the other subscribers of the PTT service. The PTT server sends an invitation message to the selected subscribers for establishing a PTT call and establishes a PTT communication connection among the terminal of the requesting subscriber and terminals of selected subscribers an approval message was received from.

  • Publication number: 20060126631
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a network server (4) for transferring a message (32, 33, 34) initiated by a message initiator (21) via a communication network (1) to at least one message receiver (24, 26, 28). The network server (4) comprises a sentence builder (43), a service characteristic data base (47), a subscriber profile data base (46), an execution module (45) and a service quality measurement module (44). The sentence builder (43) analyses a service request message (31) received from the message initiator and builds and fills a data structure (51) from the service request message (31) based on the analyses.

It includes a ROM which stores ramp data values based on samples of a predetermined ramp shape. The ramp shape is based on a generally regular profile C, for example a cos2 or cos4 function. The ramp shape also includes a boost portion BP, which enhances the ramp data values before the beginning of the generally regular profile C. The boost portion BP causes the capacitor in the feedback loop of the relevant control loop to become fully charged more rapidly, which produces a corresponding increase in the output power of the power amplifier shortly after the generally regular profile C is applied.

  • Publication number: 20050266809
Abstract: A transmitter 2 comprises a power amplifier 3 and power controller 4. The power amplifier 3 is capable of both linear and non-linear operation, and is controlled by a controller 20 and first and second control loops 21,22. The second control loop 22 is used with the transmission of GMSK modulated signals, which have no amplitude modulation, operating the power amplifier 3 in a non-linear mode. The first control loop 21 is used for the transmission of EDGE modulated signals, which have a substantial amount of amplitude modulation, operating the power amplifier 3 in a linear mode. The first control loop 21 is also used with GMSK time slots if the output power to be produced by the power amplifier 3 is low and the power of an immediately preceding time slot is high.

  • Publication number: 20050138404
Abstract: The invention concerns a method of providing a client (21, 22, 23, 24) transparent access to storage space administrated by a storage service, as well as a client (21, 22, 23, 24) and a storage system for performing this method. Data are exchanged between the client (21, 22, 23, 24) and the storage system (5) providing the storage service via a communication network (1). A client (24) invokes the storage service for providing the storage space. The storage space associated with the client (24) is located within the storage system (5). A secure connection is established between the client (24) and a storage device (51) of the storage system (5) dedicated to store data assigned to said storage space. Data assigned to the storage space is stored in encrypted form in said storage device (51).

  • Patent number: 6369635
Abstract: A temperature-compensated diode rectifier circuit is coupled to the outside of an HF amplifier (PA) to derive a rectified voltage (UD) from an HF output signal (RFOUT) with a rectifier input (IR) via a directional coupler (D-CO) with secondary connections (1, 2), and has a rectifier output (OR) for the rectified voltage (UD), a rectifier diode (D1), a charging capacitor (C1) and a ballast resistor (R2). To stabilize the rectified voltage against temperature influences, the rectifier input (IR) is connected to a d.c. input voltage (UIN), and a compensating diode (D2) is in series with the ballast resistor (R2), and a dropping resistor (R1) is in series with the rectifier diode (D1). According to the invention the rectifier diode (D1), the compensating diode (D2), the dropping resistor (R1), the ballast resistor (R2) and the directional coupler (D-CO) are connected to the d.c. input voltage (UIN) so that the voltage amplitude of the decoupled HF output signal (RFOUT) is added to the d.c. input voltage (UIN).

  • Patent number: 5666128
Abstract: An array antenna especially adapted for spacecraft use includes a support frame made up of intersecting beams which form an "eggcrate" of square openings. A plurality of subarrays or radiating tiles are dimensioned to fit within the openings. Distortion of the support frame due to external forces, or due to expansion and contraction of the radiating tiles, is accommodated andor resisted by a four-point mounting arrangement for each tile. Each mounting is located on the center of the sides of the radiating tile, and the corresponding center of the side of the opening in which it fits. Each mounting consists of a thin, flexible mounting beam, extending parallel to the associated support beam, and fastened to the support beam at the ends of the mounting beam. The center of the side of the tile is fastened to the center of the flexible support beam, so expansion and contraction of the tile are compensated by bending of the flexible beam.

  • Patent number: 5592478
Abstract: A broadband conference system for having a video conference between a number of subscribers (S1, . . . , S3) includes a switching unit (SU) to which those subscribers are coupled and a conference control unit (CCU) also coupled to that switching unit. To establish a conference, a subscriber first sets up a connection to the conference control unit and then transmits thereto the address of a second subscriber involved in the conference. The conference control unit then establishes a connection, over the switching unit, to the second subscriber. In a similar way other subscribers are added to the conference which is controlled and held over the thus established connections.

  • Patent number: 4812232
Abstract: In a method for decreasing the alcohol content of alcohol-containing beverages, particularly wine or sparkling wine, according to the reverse osmosis process, extract substances are added to the dealcoholized beverage. In order to avoid addition of foreign water to the beverage, the alcohol-containing permeate obtained by reverse osmosis from the beverage subjected to dealcoholization is distilled in a vacuum. The permeate water produced therefrom is re-fed to the beverage subjected to the dealcoholization. The amount of permeate distillate removed from the beverage subjected to dealcoholization by the reverse osmosis and subsequent vacuum distillation, which essentially consists of alcohol, is fed to the beverage subjected to the dealcoholization in the form of water, which has also been obtained by vacuum distillation from an additional beverage. In this manner, particularly high quality sparkling wine may be produced.
