  • Publication number: 20090133596
Abstract: In a method and device to generate a print image on a carrier material, a surface of a print carrier is covered with a layer of a fountain solution which is one of ink-repelling and ink-attracting. Ink-attracting and ink-repelling regions are generated via structuring. Ink is applied that adheres to the ink-attracting regions and that is not absorbed by the ink-repelling regions. The applied ink is transferred onto the carrier material. To structure, radiation of a lamp is directed toward the print carrier surface and is controlled via a control element with a control signal.

  • Patent number: 7259880
Abstract: The invention relates to a device and a method by means of which personalized printed items can be produced and printed out. The invention permits a user inexperienced in carrying out research to compile information in accordance with personal search criteria. The information found is automatically adjusted to the dimensions of the printed item set by the user so that said user is able to compile a personalized book containing numerous ample passages without first having to familiarize himself with a search algorithm or data bank structures. The invention is designed especially for use in the non-fiction domain since large volumes of scientific data are already stored in electronically readable data banks. Other applications of the invention include the compilation of sample passages from fiction books or the production of a customized travel guide.

  • Patent number: 7100503
Abstract: In a method and system to generate a print image on a carrier material, the surface of a print substrate is covered with at least one of an ink-repelling and an ink-attracting layer. In a structuring process, ink-attracting regions and ink-repelling regions are generated corresponding to a structure of the print image to be printed. An ink-attracting carrier substance is applied which can be an ink or other carrier substance on the print substrate surface that adheres to the ink-attracting regions and is not accepted by the ink-repelling regions. The carrier substance is fixed and subsequently the fixed carrier substance is inked with ink at least once. The applied ink is transferred to the carrier material. Before a new structuring process, the print substrate surface is cleaned and newly covered.

  • Publication number: 20050115424
Abstract: In a method and device to print a carrier material, a print carrier is provided with depressions on a surface. On the surface, a fluid layer is applied such that the depressions are filled with fluid. In a structuring process, ink-attracting and ink-repelling regions are generated so that the fluid in the depressions is removed in the ink-attracting regions not removed in the ink-repelling regions. Ink that adheres in the ink-attracting regions and which does not adhere in the ink-repelling regions is applied on the surface. The ink applied on the surface of the print carrier is transferred to the carrier material.

  • Patent number: 6377768
Abstract: A device and method for inking a charge pattern of a carrier medium. The device includes a toner sprayer that generates and directs a mixed toner stream onto a surface of an application element. The mixed toner stream includes a number of charge toner and air particles and forms a toner layer when the mixed toner stream contacts the application element surface. The application element is movably positioned in close proximity to the carrier medium for transferring the charged toner particles onto the charge pattern of the carrier medium for inking the same.

  • Patent number: 6125755
Abstract: In a printing method and system for production of a print image on a carrier material, a print carrier is provided, a surface of which is charged with water vapor at locations corresponding to structures of the print image to be printed. Water vapor is condensed at these locations as a film of water. Ink is applied to the surface, the ink adhering to non-wetted locations and not being accepted by the wetted locations. The ink from the non-wetted locations is printed onto the carrier material.

  • Patent number: 5801742
Abstract: A printing image is transferred onto a first fabric tape (1), which can be wetted with a liquid (19), at a printing image transfer point (3) as a result of the partial evaporation of the included liquid (19). At a subsequent transfer printing point (12), the first fabric tape (1) is located between a heating device (10) and a second fabric tape (4). Printing ink (11) is included in the second fabric tape (4). This printing ink (11) is expelled from the second fabric tape (4) by the liquid (19), which remained in the first fabric tape (1) and represents the printing image and which evaporates at the transfer printing point (12), and is transferred onto a recording medium (9).
