  • Patent number: 9249832
Abstract: A ring-shaped metal rolling bearing cage, which has cage pockets for receiving rolling elements. The cage is formed by a first and a second cage segment. Adjoining ends of the cage segments are connected to one another by suitable connection assemblies. At least one of the assemblies permits a change of the cage diameter when the cage temperature changes. The suitable assembly, on one side, is configured as a joint mechanism and, on another side, as a locking mechanism, and at least one of the assemblies has a lash. A rolling bearing cage configured with the joint mechanism and the locking mechanism can be mounted with low time expenditure in a simple and reliable manner over a shaft, particularly in the case of an idler pinion mourning.

  • Patent number: 8770854
Abstract: The invention concerns a rolling element cage (32) made of a metal strip material that is profiled, stamped, cut to length, and bent into a round shape, wherein the ends of the cut-to-length strip sections are joined together by welding. In order to make it possible to influence the lubricant distribution in the bearing and the vibration characteristics of the cage and thus of the overall bearing system, according to the invention the strip section ends (34, 36) are joined together with a predetermined axial offset (a) and/or radial offset (b).

  • Publication number: 20130266251
Abstract: The invention concerns a rolling bearing with a rolling bearing cage (1) having a plurality of rolling element pockets (2) arranged in at least one row to receive at least one row of rolling elements, wherein the rolling bearing cage (1) consists of two lateral rings (3) and a plurality of crosspieces (4) connecting them, between which crosspieces are formed the rolling element pockets (2), and having at least one empty pocket (5). In order to achieve cost-effective manufacture of the rolling bearing cage (1) with the fewest possible changes as compared to a rolling bearing cage fully populated with rolling elements, provision is made according to the invention that the rolling bearing cage (1) is equipped with fewer rolling elements in one row than corresponds to the number of rolling element pockets (2), causing the rolling bearing cage (1) to have empty pockets (5) without rolling elements in the at least one row of rolling element pockets (2).

  • Patent number: 8202007
Abstract: A multiple-row and axially biased angular ball bearing with a one-piece outer ring and an inner ring that has two inner ring halves. In order to facilitate an easy and precise setting of the desired pretensioning force and to produce a transport-safe mount cartridge, it is intended that the axial distance of at least two close-end contact surfaces of the angular ball bearing should be equal to zero in the pretensioned state, and that the axial distance of at least two close-end contact surfaces of the angular ball bearing should be greater than zero in a nonpretensioned state.

  • Publication number: 20040168534
Abstract: The invention concerns a gearwheel for a mechanical gearwheel transmission of an automotive vehicle, which gearwheel rotates loosely on a shaft, cylindrical rolling elements (18, 19) being arranged between an inner raceway associated to the shaft and an outer raceway associated to a hub of the gearwheel. According to the invention, the gearwheel (13) is mounted through two spaced apart roller crown rings comprising cylindrical rolling elements (18, 19) and cages (20, 25), projections (21, 26) of the cages (20, 25) engaging into a groove (22) that is arranged in a radially inward pointing center flange (24) between the outer raceways (17). In this way, an inseparable pre-assembled unit made up of the gearwheel (13) and the roller crown rings is formed that facilitates the assembly of the mechanical gearwheel transmission.
