  • Publication number: 20130179984
Abstract: A method for controlling the execution of a software application on a computer system. The method includes the steps of generating a license map based on a given license for the application, the license map including the information on which user is allowed to execute the application, providing a license client on the computer system and providing a license server delivering the license map to the license client. When a user requests execution of the application, the license client decides whether the user is allowed to execute the application based on the license map.

  • Patent number: 8483659
Abstract: To facilitate recovering lost or stolen mobile devices, methods and systems are provided that enable mobile devices to report information that can be used to locate the device and/or identify an unauthorized user. Owners can report the loss or theft of their mobile devices to a server which can transmit an anti-theft activation message. Reception of the anti-theft activation message prompts activation of a anti-theft software module may limit access to programs and data on the mobile device while allowing the normal use of the mobile device through a secondary user interface. Unbeknownst to unauthorized users, data related to the user and the device are collected and transmitted to a server. Collected data may include user biometric data and non-biometric data. User biometric data may be matched against biometric databases to identify the user. Non-biometric data may be used to help locate the mobile devices.

  • Publication number: 20130168290
Abstract: A composition of a value added RFCC catalyst and a process of preparation of a composition for a dual function additive catalyst from a spent catalyst are disclosed. The value added spent FCC catalyst offers improved performance, options such as either employing as an additive for passivation of both vanadium and nickel and enhancing catalytic activity, for initial start-up or make-up for attrition losses. The value addition process does not harm any of physical properties of starting material with respect to ABD, attrition index, surface area and particle size distribution. Value added catalyst can be used in a range from 1-99 wt % in fluid catalytic cracking process in which, feeds may have higher metals and carbon.

  • Patent number: 8478331
Abstract: A radio access system receives packets from a local source of streaming media content via a local connection and from remote packet sources via a remote network. The radio access system communicates with a subscriber station via an air interface that includes an uplink and a downlink. A packet classifier in the radio access system maps packets having the subscriber station's IP address as destination address to the subscriber station's downlink. The subscriber station communicates with a content controller via the remote network to request selected streaming media content. The content controller instructs the radio access system to convey the selected streaming media content from the local source to the subscriber station. In response, the packet classifier maps the packets containing the selected streaming media content to a downlink (either the original downlink or a new one) for transmission to the subscriber station.

  • Patent number: 8468831
Abstract: Embodiments of this invention provide a premixed pilot assembly for use with a fuel nozzle for a turbine. The level of nitrogen oxide (NOx) emitted by the pilot is reduced by mixing the fuel and air fast, at the end of the pilot nozzle, thereby avoiding significant zones of rich fuel and air mixtures. The air is mixed with the fuel through the use of openings in a first cylinder and a second cylinder, one of which carries air and one of which carries pilot fuel. The openings can be configured as necessary to obtain a desired effect on the pilot.

  • Patent number: 8468185
Abstract: A method of data processing. The method comprises applying a filter to an input sample set comprising sample values selected from an input sequence of input sample values, so as to generate a corresponding output sample value having an output sample value position with respect to the input sample set, in which the filter has a maximum output range. The method further comprises deriving a permissible output value range from an input group of two or more input sample values in the input sample set which surround the output sample value position, detecting whether the output of the filter is outside the permissible output value range and, if so, limiting the output of the filter to lie within the permissible output value range.

  • Patent number: 8468458
Abstract: Techniques are described for display and navigation of hierarchical messages, which displays include contextual data for the messages. Context information for a current message includes reply messages, parent messages, and metadata representations. Message representations are also associated with visual depth indicators that are independent of the text of the messages. Users may navigate displays of hierarchical message data using different navigational inputs. For example, more information may be requested for messages, without selecting a new message for viewing as a focal message, using swipes across portions of the display dedicated to displaying the messages. A limited number of messages for a requested list of messages is initially retrieved and displayed, and a mechanism for viewing more messages from the list is provided. Historical usage of the mechanism is recorded and the number of messages to be displayed for the list of messages is adjusted based on the historical usage data.
