  • Patent number: 11695673
Abstract: Various embodiments disclosed herein are related to a non-transitory computer readable storage medium. In some embodiments, the medium includes instructions stored thereon that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to identify, at an edge network, resource consumption data including a status that indicates whether a service hosted on a cluster of nodes on the edge network is powered on, a type of a resource being consumed by the service, a quantity of the resource being consumed by the service, and a time stamp associated with the resource being consumed by the service and provide, to a remote server in communication with the edge network, the resource consumption data. In some embodiments, the remote server meters resource consumption based on the resource consumption data.

  • Patent number: 11663087
Abstract: An aspect of the present disclosure facilitates validating metering of a disaster recovery service used in clouds. In one embodiment, a system receives a request to validate metering of usage of a disaster recovery service (DRS) in a first cloud. The system collects from a metering service of the DRS, measured values representing the actual usage of the DRS in a second cloud and then compares the measured values with corresponding expected values representing expected usage of the DRS in the second cloud. The system sends a response to the request based on a result of the comparing. In one embodiment, the request is received from a tenant (customer/owner) owning the first cloud.

In some embodiments, the medium includes instructions stored thereon that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to receive, at a server, from a first cluster of nodes on an edge network in communication with the server, first resource consumption data of a first service hosted on the edge network, calculate a first resource consumption quantity based on the first resource consumption data, receive, from a second cluster of nodes on the edge network, delayed resource consumption data of a second service hosted on the edge network, and calculate a second resource consumption quantity based on the delayed resource consumption data. In some embodiments, the first resource consumption data is collected at a first time and the delayed resource consumption data collected at the first time.

  • Patent number: 10524028
Abstract: An aspect of the present disclosure facilitates validating live metering service in a cloud infrastructure. In one embodiment, a testing server receives a request to validate metering of a specific cloud (hosted in a cloud infrastructure) during processing of user requests, and in response collects from a metering service of the cloud infrastructure, measured values representing the actual resources consumed by a reference cloud provisioned in the cloud infrastructure in corresponding durations. The testing server compares the measured values with corresponding reference values expected during the operation of the reference cloud in the corresponding durations and sends a response to the request based on a result of the comparison.

  • Publication number: 20130055369
Abstract: A system and method in one embodiment includes modules for verifying a digital signature of a Microsoft® ActiveX® control, identifying an executable file of the ActiveX control, authorizing the executable file as an updater configured to enable trust propagation, if the digital signature is from an authorized issuer, and installing the ActiveX control. More specific embodiments include hooking an exported function in the executable file and marking a thread calling the exported function as an updater. Hooking the exported function includes patching the executable function so that when the exported function is called during execution of the executable file, a second function is executed before the exported function is executed. Other embodiments include extracting a cabinet file wrapping the ActiveX control, parsing an information file in the cabinet file, and downloading additional components for installing the ActiveX control.
