  • Patent number: 7738469
Abstract: In a communications network, a virtual rack having service modules for performing network services is provided. A pinhole that corresponds to a plurality of the service modules is created. Data packets are directed to a service processor in response to matching the data packets to the pinhole. For connection class offload, using the acceleration processor to match the connection class pinhole to the data packets and creating connection class sessions that are used for processing subsequent packets of the connection.

  • Publication number: 20100032375
Abstract: Disclosed is a high-recovery integrated recycling process to treat water and waste water having high hardness, silica, and other contaminants to facilitate operation of a reverse osmosis (RO) membrane at very high overall recovery when treating waste water containing high concentration of sparingly soluble inorganic salts like hardness, silica, and other components such as silica, etc. The RO membrane continuously operates in low or conservative recovery conditions, but can still achieve a very high overall system recovery. The process includes precipitation softening in a softening clarifier where the scale forming salts are reduced followed by filtration and reverse osmosis. The precipitated salts are removed as underflow from the clarifier. The softened or partially softened water is then filtered by a conventional filtration system, for example by a media filter. This is then fed to a reverse osmosis membrane unit that is designed to operate at an appropriate recovery to avoid scaling and fouling.

  • Publication number: 20070130347
Abstract: A system for harvesting information from network-based sources for a user has a network-connected server with software stored on and operable from a data repository accessible to the server, a user profile stored in the repository, comprising identification of network information sites storing information personal to the user, user ID for enabling the server to log in to the sites on behalf of the user, and one or more report algorithms associated with pre-defined user requests. The server, executing the software, upon receiving one of the pre-defined requests from the user, visits and gathers information from one or more sites indicated in the user profile, and presents a report to the user comprising the information gathered, formatted according to the report algorithm associated with the user's request.

  • Patent number: 7178096
Abstract: An Internet-connected portal system has a data repository, a data-gathering system, a request processor, a plurality of report algorithms, and a report processor. The request processor receives a request from a user and matches the request to an individual one of the report algorithms. The data-gathering subsystem accesses plural Internet sites associated with the user and extracts raw data therefrom according to needs of the report algorithm. The report processor processes the raw data according to the report algorithm into metasummarized information defined by the report algorithm, and the portal system transmits the metasummarized information as a report to a destination associated with the report request.

  • Patent number: 7129038
Abstract: A method for selectively combining multiple membranes for assembly into test strips (such as visual blood glucose test strips with side-by-side membranes). The method includes first measuring a plurality of color parameters (e.g., L*, a* and b*color parameters) associated with membrane samples from at least two membrane lots. Next, response characteristics (e.g., blood glucose response levels) are simulated for a speculative test strip that includes, for purposes of the simulation, combined multiple membranes tentatively selected from the at least two membrane lots. The simulated response characteristics are based on the measured plurality of color parameters of the tentative selection of combined multiple membranes. Optionally, the simulated response characteristics can also be based on simulated color parameters of the tentative selection of combined multiple membranes.

  • Publication number: 20050184782
Abstract: The differential input receiver provides constant symmetrical hysteresis over a wide input signal range. The differential input receiver includes a pair of complementary differential comparators having common input terminals, a pair of series connected complementary current mirrors each having source terminals driven by the output terminals of the corresponding differential comparator, a pair of transistors connected in series across each differential pair transistor in each differential comparator to form a potential divider across it, and a pair of series connected inverting buffers connected to a common output of the differential comparators to provide the final output. The individual buffer outputs are fed back to the control terminals of the series connected transistors in a manner that provides positive feedback thereby providing equal rise-time, fall-delay and transition times in the output signal.

  • Publication number: 20050168246
Abstract: A CMOS input buffer supporting multiple I/O standards and having a pair of NMOS and PMOS differential receivers, each having a first input connected to an input pad and a second input connected to a reference voltage, a first multiplexer connected to the control terminal of the current sink of the NMOS differential receiver and having one input connected to the positive supply terminal, and a second multiplexer connected to the control terminal of the current source of the PMOS differential receiver and having one input connected to the negative supply terminal or ground. The buffer further includes an inverter connected to a combined output of the PMOS and NMOS differential receivers and having an output connected to the second input of the first and second multiplexer, and a configuration storage bit for selecting the desired inputs of the first and second multiplexer, thereby supporting high speed standards as well as general purpose standards while reducing static power dissipation.

  • Publication number: 20030235923
Abstract: A method for the acceptance testing of a set of multiple colored workpieces (e.g., paired color pads of a calibrated color chart or paired membranes of visual blood glucose test strip). The method includes first measuring a plurality of color parameters (e.g., L*a*b* color parameters) associated with the set of multiple colored workpieces, followed by conversion of the plurality of color parameters into a single response parameter. Next, the single response parameter for the set is compared to a predetermined single response parameter specification for the set and acceptance of the set of multiple colored workpieces determined based on the comparison. The method can be easily employed in conjunction with multiple (e.g., paired) membrane test strips used to measure, for example, glucose, cholesterol, proteins, ketones, phenylalanine or enzymes in blood, urine, saliva or other biological fluid and/or sample fluid characteristics such as pH and alkalinity.
