Patent number: 4968070Abstract: A door latching or unlatching push bar apparatus comprising: a mounting rail means to be carried by the door, the rail means having a locking rail; a push bar mounted for advancement and retraction relative to the rail means; support means carried by the push bar to extend toward the rail means, and a lock arm carried by the support means to be movable into and out of dogging position relative to the locking rail; and an actuator carried by the push bar and operatively connected with the lock arm to move the lock arm into and out of dogging position when the push bar has been advanced toward the rail means.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 1989Date of Patent: November 6, 1990Assignee: Adams Rite Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Mansam Choi

Patent number: 4934800Abstract: Door lock control apparatus includes a rotary input part adapted to be rotated by a handle or knob; a rotary output part adapted to operate a lock mechanism; and structure coupling the input part to the output part, including a pinion gear coupled to the output part; a member having first and second lengthwise extending racks thereon and bodily shiftable between a first position in which the first rack engages the pinion, and a second position in which the second rack engages the pinion, that member also being bodily movable in the length direction of the racks; and a mechanism operatively coupled between the input part and the member to have that member in the length direction in response to rotation of the input part; the racks located to alternately engage the pinion in such first and second positions so that in the member's first position the output part is rotated clockwise when the input part is rotated clockwise, and in the member's second position the output part is rotated counterclockwise when the iType: GrantFiled: May 18, 1989Date of Patent: June 19, 1990Assignee: Adams Rite Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Mansam Choi

Patent number: 4865367Abstract: A door lock structure includes a frame and a latch bolt carried by the frame for movement between retracted and advanced positions relative to a jamb. The bolt in its retracted position allows the door to open and when its in its advanced position blocks the closed door from opening. A first heat-fusible spring carried by the frame urges the bolt toward the advanced position. A lever pivotally carried by the bolt pivots between a first bolt blocking position and a second bolt freeing position. The lever has a second heat fusible spring carried by the bolt and acting on the lever for urging the lever toward the first bolt blocking position. The frame carries an actuator for pivoting the lever into the second position allowing movement of the bolt toward the retracted position. The lever also has a counterweight on the lever for keeping the lever in the first position to block retraction of the bolt in the event that the first and second springs melt.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 1988Date of Patent: September 12, 1989Assignee: Adams Rite Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Mansam Choi

Patent number: 4838587Abstract: Apparatus deadlocking a door member to a door frame member, one of the members rigidly supporting a bolt to project freely in the direction of a first axis, for captivation by said mechanism, comprises:(a) a body attachable to the other member,(b) a rotary latching structure carried by the body to pivot about a second axis generally parallel to the first axis, the latching structure including a latch forming a recess to relatively receive the bolt as the members relatively close and so that the bolt pivots the latch about the second axis into full latching position, therby to deadlock the two members,(c) a confinement wall on the body to face and confine the bolt in the recess in full latching position,(d) the latching assembly including a latch dog,(e) and a blocking and unblocking part extending in co-operation with the body and movable from a first location in which the latch dog is blocked to prevent pivoting of the latch to release the bolt, to a second location in which the dog is unblocked, to allow laType: GrantFiled: May 2, 1988Date of Patent: June 13, 1989Assignee: Adams Rite Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Mansam Choi

Patent number: 4824150Abstract: A door retention assembly locks a door in closed position in response to high temperature as during a fire, the door element having an edge portion closable into adjacent relation to an edge portion defined by a header element, and there being a strike carried by one of the elements. The assembly includes:(a) a latch carried by the other element to relatively move into latching relation with the strike when the door element is closed relative to the header element, thereby to hold the door closed,(b) and a control to control movement of the latch into and out of latching relation with the strike. A heat fusible part, when fused, renders the control inoperable to effect movement of the latch out of latching relation with the strike.Type: GrantFiled: February 29, 1988Date of Patent: April 25, 1989Assignee: Adams Rite Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Gregg L. Patent number: 4351477Abstract: A pop-up sprinkler has a sprinkler housing containing a pop-up spray nozzle assembly springably biased to a retracted position. Upon supply of water under pressure to the housing, the assembly pops up to an elevated position to provide an irrigating water spray in a selected direction. A clamping collar prevents rotation of the elevated spray nozzle assembly with respect to the housing.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 1980Date of Patent: September 28, 1982Assignee: Anthony Manufacturing CorporationInventor: Mansam Choi

Patent number: 4212426Abstract: A protective housing is provided which entirely encloses an impact drive irrigation sprinkler to prevent adjacent vegetation from interfering with normal operation of the sprinkler and to minimize damage due to vandalizing. In the case of pop-up type sprinklers, a lower portion of the housing is tapered to enhance the ability of the sprinkler to move axially through vegetation, such as ivy and the like, and the housing is arranged to entirely enclose the sprinkler in all operating and non-operating positions.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 1978Date of Patent: July 15, 1980Assignee: Anthony Manufacturing Corp.Inventor: Mansam Choi
