    Abstract: A cleaning composition and a method of using such composition to remove polymeric deposits on mechanical equipment used in producing or processing polymeric materials, comprises an aqueous solution of from about 1% by weight to about 12% by weight of caustic, from about 0.05% by weight to about 3% by weight of a phosphate builder, from about 0.05% by weight to about 3% by weight of a chelating agent, from about 0.1% by weight to about 6% by weight of a solubilizer and from about 1% by weight to about 7% by weight of a nonionic surfactant.
