  • Patent number: 11918301
Abstract: The invention relates to a goniometer that enables precise marking of the desired ocular axis in the phase immediately after surgery for the treatment of astigmatism. It essentially consists of two circular, transparent discs, one of which is at least axially stationary, in which the angles from 0° to 180° are marked, which are aligned with the angles from 0° to 180° of the patient's eye; and the other one of which is movable both angularly and axially, with a reference mark (9) and moving rigidly connected to a marking part (12), impregnated with die, which is responsible for marking the eye. Not only does the device make it possible to carry out said marking in a precise and comfortable manner, it also makes it possible to measure the angle of toric lenses already implanted.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a diagnostic and/or prognostic method for the diagnosis and/or prognosis of cancer in a patient. Particularly, the present invention relates to diagnostic and/or prognostic methods for the diagnosis and/or prognosis of cancer which comprise quantifying the expression levels of In1-ghrelin in a plasma sample isolated from an individual; comparing the obtained levels with the expression levels of In1-ghrelin in a reference sample; and assigning the patients having expression levels of In1-ghrelin that are greater than and statistically significant with respect to the levels of the reference sample to the group of individuals at risk of having cancer. The present invention also provides a diagnostic method for the diagnosis of bladder and/or colon cancer which comprises quantifying the expression levels of In1-ghrelin, GOAT and/or GHS-R1b in tissue samples. The present invention also relates to an siRNA useful in a cancer treatment method.

  • Patent number: 8716602
Abstract: Cable grommets for use with raised-floor tiles permit the passage of cables while simultaneously limiting the amount of cool air escaping from under-floor ducts and plenums. The cable grommet includes a floor tile mounting flange, one or more pairs of opposed, overlapping finger assemblies, and one or more pairs of opposed finger mounting flanges for coupling the finger assemblies to the underside of the floor tile mounting flange. The edges of the of the triangularly-shaped fingers are configured to flex around the cables while the interior core section remains generally rigid and parallel to the plane of the floor to restrict the loss of cooling air. Alternatively, the cable grommet includes a floor tile mounting flange and a finger panel defining a sinusoidal cut along its length and a plurality of intersecting short cuts.

  • Patent number: 8679594
Abstract: The invention includes the structure of a multilayer protective coating, which may have, among other properties, scratch resistance, UV absorption, and an effective refractive index matched to a polymer substrate such as polycarbonate. Each layer may contain multiple components consisting of organic and inorganic materials. The multilayer protective coating includes interleaved organic layers and inorganic layers. The organic layers may have 20% or more organic compounds such as SiOxCyHz. The inorganic layers may have 80% or more inorganic materials, such as SiO2, SiOxNy, and ZnO, or mixtures thereof. Each layer of the multilayer protective coating is a micro layer and may have a thickness of 5 angstroms or less in various embodiments. The multilayer protective coating may contain in the order of hundreds or thousands of micro layers, depending upon the design requirement of applications. In each micro layer, the components may have substantially continuous variations in concentration.

  • Publication number: 20120049706
Abstract: A frame for use with cabinets and enclosures that house electronic equipment to prevent warm air from entering into, and cool air from exiting out of, the cabinet through gaps between the structural members of the cabinet. The frame is a singular piece of material that replaces, and provides the functions of, both vertical and horizontal structural members, and may also include EIA-standard mounting holes. The top and bottom of the frame's interior may be concave to direct cooling air into, or heated air out of, the cabinet. Alternatively, a pair of angled vertical rails may be mounted to the vertical structural members of the cabinet to block the air gaps.
