  • Publication number: 20070254728
Abstract: Aspects include methods and apparatuses for communicating in an ultra-wideband transmission. For example, some aspects include methods and apparatuses for wireless communications. The method includes, at a first device in communication with at least a second device via a wireless link, monitoring at least one resource for performing at least one function. The method further includes determining whether to assign the at least one function to the at least one second device. The determining is based on information that is indicative of at least function and indicative of at least one resource of the at least one second device. Other aspects include apparatus and devices for communicating data, including according to one or more aspects of the method. For example, some aspects include devices such as headsets, watches, and medical devices configured to use such methods and apparatuses for communicating data.

  • Publication number: 20070191723
Abstract: A system and method for presenting information relating to heart data can involve operations including identifying arrhythmia events in physiological data obtained for a living being, receiving human assessments of at least a portion of the arrhythmia events, determining a measure of correlation between the human assessments and the identified events, and selectively presenting information regarding the identified events based on the measure of correlation. The operations can also include identifying atrial fibrillation events in physiological data obtained for a living being, obtaining heart rate data for the living being, and presenting information regarding the heart rate data and duration of the atrial fibrillation events together with a common time scale to pictographically represent heart rate trend with atrial fibrillation burden during a defined time period.

  • Publication number: 20060084878
Abstract: The invention provides a system for measuring blood pressure from a patient that includes: 1) an optical module featuring systems for measuring signals from the patient, serial communication, and power management; 2) an external computing device configured to attach to the optical module, supply power to the optical module, and receive information from the optical module through the system for serial communication; and 3) an algorithm, operating on the external computing device, that processes information received through the system for serial communication to determine the patient's blood pressure.

  • Publication number: 20050228300
Abstract: The present invention provides a system for monitoring blood pressure that preferably includes: 1) a blood-pressure monitor featuring a measuring component that generates blood-pressure information and a first short-range wireless component configured to wirelessly transmit the blood-pressure information; 2) a mobile device featuring a chipset that includes i) an embedded second short-range wireless component configured to receive the blood-pressure information; and ii) a long-range wireless component configured to transmit the blood-pressure information over a wireless network; and 3) a computer system configured to receive and display the blood-pressure information.

  • Publication number: 20050148882
Abstract: The invention provides a method for monitoring a patient, comprising the following steps: 1) outfitting the patient with a ambulatory blood pressure monitor that features an optical system for measuring blood pressure without using a cuff, and a wireless system configured to send and receive information sent from an Internet-based system through a wireless network; 2) sending from the Internet-based system to the ambulatory blood pressure monitor a signal that indicates a blood pressure level; 3) comparing a blood pressure value measured with the ambulatory blood pressure monitor to the blood pressure level; and 4) generating a signal in response to the comparing step.
