  • Patent number: 9546593
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for regulating stable operation of an exhaust-gas turbocharger of an internal combustion engine having a fresh-gas supply device, a switchover valve, a control device, a compressor for generating compressed air and an air-processing unit with a discharge valve. The compressor is operated in a suction intake mode in which the compressor is connected to an air inlet, and based on monitored operating parameters, the switchover valve switches the compressor from the suction intake mode into a pressure-charged in which the compressor is connected to an exhaust-gas turbocharger compressor. Based on monitored operating parameters when in the pressure-charged mode, the switchover valve switches the compressor from the pressure-charged mode into the suction intake mode.

  • Patent number: 9238997
Abstract: An exhaust gas turbocharger for an internal combustion machine, in particular a diesel engine, having an unburnt mixture supply device, includes at least one compressor; at least one exhaust gas turbine; a turbocharger shaft by which the compressor and the exhaust gas turbine are rotationally fixedly coupled; and an energy store for increasing a mass moment of inertia. The energy store is rotationally fixedly coupled to the at least one compressor and the at least one exhaust gas turbine by the turbocharger shaft. An arrangement for supplying unburnt gas to an internal combustion machine includes such an exhaust gas turbocharger and an unburnt gas supply device.

  • Patent number: 8793999
Abstract: A process is provided for starting an internal-combustion engine, particularly a Diesel engine, having an exhaust gas turbocharger and an inlet gas supply device with at least one compressed-air reservoir which is connected with an intake pipe of the internal-combustion engine. During the starting of the internal-combustion engine, additional air is blown from the inlet gas supply device into the intake pipe until a rotational speed of the internal-combustion engine reaches a previously definable idling speed.

  • Patent number: 8628452
Abstract: A method is provided for controlling an output torque of an automated transmission coupled to an internal combustion engine and having a transmission controller. The internal combustion engine includes an exhaust gas turbocharger and an injection air device for injecting air into an intake line. The method receives a torque requirement by the transmission controller, generates an injection air signal by the transmission controller based on the torque requirement and current operating parameters of the internal combustion engine and the automated transmission, and controls the output torque by activating the injection air device based on the injection air signal for injecting air into the intake line of the internal combustion engine for a duration to be determined. A corresponding device is provided for carrying out the method.

  • Patent number: 8602742
Abstract: A method is provided for regulating a charge air pressure of an engine having an exhaust gas supercharger, a fresh gas supply device, an air system having an air treatment system and a compressor chargeable by the supercharger, and an engine controller. The method detects an engine torque requirement; determines a current charge air pressure and a current pressure of the air system; compares the current charge air pressure to a target charge air pressure corresponding to the torque requirement, compares the current air system pressure to a target operating air system pressure, and regulates the charge air pressure by suppressing supply of compressed air from the supercharger to the compressor when the current charge air pressure is less than the corresponding target charge air pressure and the current pressure of the air system is greater than or equal to the target operating pressure of the air system.
