  • Publication number: 20090248158
Abstract: The present invention relates to a combined fixation bone implant consisting on a (metallic or non-metallic) implant which, due to its geometry, allows its fixation to the bone tissue in two different and simultaneous ways. In view of its characteristics, it allows that part of its superficial area (coated with any type of material or structure that may stimulate the adhesion or bone integration of the bone tissue) remains in direct contact with the bone tissue and the other part is fixed through the bone cement between the implant and the bone tissue. The process of the implantation on the bone, as well as the retrieval of the implant in case of revision (replacement), minimises the bone loss.

  • Publication number: 20060004765
Abstract: Addressed is a system and method for remote data caching and replication by local copy maintenance of remote data within a SAN file system. Distributed Storage Tank (DST), an extension to a SAN file system, provides for transparent SAN client access of local copies by importing, exporting, and storing data using network file access protocols as well as by providing assurance of metadata and file content validity. A Remote Access Agent (RAA) handles protocol implementation and conversion necessary for communication with remote data sources. Controlled by a consistency policy, consistency is maintained by RAA fetching and updating local copies if modifications have occurred to a file since it was first stored as a local copy in local storage. Additionally, RAA returns metadata pertaining to the requested data. A SAN client obtains metadata corresponding to the requested data and utilizes it to directly access locally stored copies of remote data.

  • Publication number: 20040134485
Abstract: Solar cooker of the concentrating type, using Compound Parabolic Concentrator type optics (2, 2′) comprising a box (1), inside which all its accessories and cooking utensils can be carried; the box being essentially made of plastic compatible with the production of complicated curves characteristic of the referred optics. The present invention includes a version in which electrical energy is used as backup for days without sunshine. Its application extends to other areas beyond the cooking of foodstuffs, in particular to the pasteurisation of water, milk and other products and its usage as a drying system.

  • Patent number: 6688276
Abstract: The engine includes a cylindrical rotor, set up in the interior of a stator, limited by two flat surfaces forming a first chamber to provided the admission phase and the compression phase and another chamber to provided the expansion phase (D1) and the exhaust phase. The chambers are separated by two section. The peripheral interior surface of the stator is adjusted to the rotor periphery and its extension corresponds to the gap between two pistons.

  • Patent number: 6553760
Abstract: The invention refers to control devices applied in a hydrostatic transmission, which includes a motor pump MP, a hydrostatic circuit HC 1 and HC 2 and an impelling pump IP, which is formed by a rotor 1, a stator 2 and a body 3; the fluid debit is infinitely variable and is obtained by the radial and variable decentralisation of the said stator 2, by means of the impulsion of the rods A and B. The devices are constituted by pistons 4 and 5, which impel the rods A and B, and are inserted in cylinders 6 and 7; by springs systems 9, 10 and 11, which regulate the position of the pistons and of the rods, and by a command formed by a valve 8, inserted in a vacuum circuit with ways V1 and V2, which communicate with the cylinder 7.

  • Patent number: 6513548
Abstract: Valves are associated and integrated inside a body C. A steering valve includes two cylinders A and B, concentric with the steering shaft D. The cylinder A rolls conjointly with the shaft. The valve controls the direction of the fluid circulation in the cylinders which effect the steering. The safety valve includes two pistons P1, P2 and a spring S, and makes the control easier of the steering, in an occasional lack of fluid pressure (pump damage, fluid leak, cut of the shaft strap, engine stop). A progression valve includes a cylinder and the piston PV. It operates by means of the vacuum effect TV, produced in the engine air admission of the vehicle, controlling the return of the piston P1 in a progressive way, from a certain speed of the said vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5685492
Abstract: An internal combustion engine fuel injector having a selectively openable nozzle (10) through which a fuel is delivered to the combustion chamber of the engine. The nozzle (10) comprises a port (12) having an internal annular surface (13) and a valve member (20) having an external annular surface coaxial with respect the internal annular surface. Sealing contact between the valve member and the port is provided therebetween along a circular seat line substantially coaxial to the respective annular surfaces. The annular surfaces are configured so that when the internal and external annular surfaces are in sealing contact along the circular seat line, the seat line is located adjacent the downstream end of the passage for delivery of fuel with respect to the direction of the flow of fuel through the passage. The maximum width of the passage between the annular surfaces is not substantially more than 30 microns.

  • Patent number: 5655365
Abstract: A method of operating an internal combustion engine comprising retarding the ignition of a gas/fuel mixture within at least one cylinder of the engine to after top dead center (ATDC) in respect of the combustion cycle of said at least one cylinder of the engine. While the ignition is so retarded, the fuelling rate of said at least one cylinder is increased to a level higher than that required when the engine is operating normally.
