  • Patent number: 5163793
Abstract: A machine tool installation comprising a frame, a track along which the frame is movable, a machining head on the frame and movable transversely of the track and workpiece support means, wherein the support means comprises a plurality of modules extending transversely of the track and independently movable along the track, a plurality of columns on each of the modules, each of the columns being independently movable along the modules, a workpiece fixing member at the upper end of each column and which can be moved vertically, and computer control means for controlling all the aforesaid movements in three perpendicular directions to permit the automatic positioning of the fixing members until they occupy the desired positions for supporting and fixing the workpiece during machining.

  • Patent number: 4566922
Abstract: A splicer is used in a corrugated cardboard production line. The splicer has a pair of pivotal levers having opposing jaws which open and close responsive to a pivoting of the levers. The faces of each of the jaws have a pair of pads for enabling a passage of a web of corrugated cardboard when the jaws are opened and for gripping the web when the jaws are closed. A guillotine blade is positioned between the pairs of jaw pads to grip the web when the jaws are closed. A pair of brake shoes are positioned downstream from the jaws for holding the web while the brake shoes are closed.

  • Patent number: 4331301
Abstract: The invention relates to apparatus for automatically splicing a stand-by belt to the end of the belt or coil which is running out. In the prior art devices, there is a free transverse strip of the run-out coil which remains after the splicing has occurred. In accordance with the invention, the stand-by belt is spliced and the transverse strip is cut off so as to provide a continuous belt with no free end.

  • Patent number: 4318513
Abstract: The invention relates to a system for providing a constant tension of the paper belt being fed from a paper coil. According to the invention, a floating roller is mounted between two displaceable trolleys, the ends of the roller shaft being slidably mounted in respective grooves of said trolleys. The trolleys are linked to chains which are provided with a common shaft which drives a piston rod of a cylinder. Two cylinders whose joint power is slightly smaller than that of the cylinder of the common shaft of the trolley chains are mounted to balance the pulling effect of the paper belt on the roller. Means for adjusting the brake pressure adjuster of the paper coils is provided on one of the trolleys. In accordance with the invention, an equilibrium of the oscillation of the floating roller is obtained so as to permit slight oscillations without affecting the pressure adjustment of the coil brakes.
