Abstract: The present invention relates to hair styling creams comprising a crosslinked silicone polymer; an alkoxylated compound selected from polyethylenoxides and polyalkoxylated silicone compounds; emulsifier; a fatty phase; and an aqueous phase. The cream can be transferred into rope-, thread-, or fiber-like structures when distributed in the hands. It gives a powdery feel after drying and improves stability and gloss of hair.

The weight ratio of the cationic cellulose derivative to the chitosan is less than 2. The composition is either provided with a propellant or is foamed with a mechanically operated foam-making device.

The itaconic acid monoester monomer or monomers are of formula CH2?C(COOR1)CH2COOR2, wherein one of R1 and R2 represents hydrogen and another of R1 and R2 represents —(CH2CH2O)x—R3, x is a number between 1 and 100 and R3 is an alkyl group with 8 to 30 carbon atoms.
