  • Patent number: 10555181
Abstract: An electronic device that determines a height of a transceiver in a structure is described. During operation, the electronic device acquires an image of the structure. Then, the electronic device receives user-input information that specifies lines on the surface of the structure, and receives second user-input information that specifies an approximate vertical location on an exterior of the structure of a transceiver in the structure. Moreover, the electronic device obtains a second image from above the structure from an imaging service, and receives third user-input information that specifies at least one of the lines on the surface in the second image. Next, the electronic device provides information to the imaging service, and in response receives a distance between end points of at least one of the lines. Furthermore, the electronic device provides second information to a computer, and in response receives the determined height of the transceiver.

  • Patent number: 10285059
Abstract: After a failed association attempt by an electronic device, an access point may facilitate trouble shooting by determining information associated with the electronic device. For example, the access point may receive at least an instruction from a computer associated with a network administrator to create a personal WLAN having a user-specific SSID. This user-specific SSID may correspond to a user of the electronic device (such as the user's name) or may be independently provided to the user by the network administrator. Then, the electronic device may associate with the access point to join the personal WLAN. In response, the access point may determine the MAC address of the electronic device. Next, the access point may provide the MAC address to the computer, so that the network administrator can identify the electronic device in the WLAN and/or can obtain additional information that can be used to solve the association problem.

  • Patent number: 10157053
Abstract: An update technique is described. During the update technique, a computer system, in which tenant data and associated components in the computer system for customers are arranged into islands, updates software for the components in an island associated with at least a customer. In particular, the computer system may create an update island that includes the software update and that initially excludes the tenant data. Moreover, the computer system may update the software for the components in the island by migrating, to the update island, the tenant data for at least the customer independently of the tenant data for a remainder of the customers. Furthermore, while updating the software, the computer system may transmit a firmware update to a group of access points associated with at least the customer and reboot instructions to the group of access points.
