  • Publication number: 20190039444
Abstract: A weatherstrip assembly such as a glass run, and the associated method of forming the glass run, includes a body having a generally U-shaped conformation that includes a base portion, and first and second legs extending from the base portion to define a cavity. First and second seal lips extend from the first and second legs, respectively. First and second hinges are interposed between the first leg and first seal lip, and the second leg and second seal lip, respectively. The hinges are formed of a first material different than a second material of the seal lips where the first material has high elasticity, and low compression set properties.

  • Patent number: 8667739
Abstract: A method and resultant apparatus for a window seal assembly is shown and described. A thin layer of elastomer is introduced between a reinforcement member and a first surface of a window member. The subassembly of the glass member, elastomer, and rigid reinforcement is then introduced into a mold. Preferably, the thin layer of elastomer is provided by an extrusion process, such as on a metal reinforcement member, or as a co-extrusion process when an extruded reinforcement member is formed. A curable, elastomer/plastomer material is then injection molded to provide a flush glass appearance where an outer surface of the window is devoid of any seal material.

  • Publication number: 20140059941
Abstract: A weatherstrip includes an elastomeric body having a first material that encapsulates a carrier. A second material having a higher hardness than the first material of the body is selectively positioned at a predetermined location in the body to support compressive loads imposed on the body. In this manner, the neutral axis of the weatherstrip can be controlled by selective location of the second material in the cross-section.

  • Patent number: 5337225
Abstract: The present invention relates to a lighting strip system including interconnectable lighting strip sections and connector sections. The lighting strip sections include lighting means such as light emitting diodes or incandescent lamps encapsulated in a polymeric molding. The connector sections include metallic inserts or metallic strips which partially extend from the polymeric molding of the connector section wherein the metallic inserts or metallic strips are plugged into the lighting strip sections to form an electrical junction between an adjacent lighting strip section and connector section. The lighting strip system is particularly useful for pathway lighting.

  • Patent number: 5296658
Abstract: A safety edge switch which may be utilized to sense an obstruction present in a window opening upon closure of the respective window of an automotive vehicle. The switch may be secured to a window opening by adhesive attachment. The switch includes an outer peripheral portion preferably shaped as an oval and constructed of a resilient material which defines a central aperture. A second smaller structure constructed of conductive elastomer is located in the central aperture and secured to an internal wall thereof. A portion of the outer peripheral member opposite the second smaller oval shaped structure features a conductive elastomeric portion extending parallel thereto and maintained separate therefrom by the resilient physical properties of the outer peripheral portion.

  • Patent number: 5092079
Abstract: The present invention is a weather seal for a garage door having a base member secured to a support surface. A block is pivotally connected to the base member for pivotal movement relative to the base member. A sealing lip is connected to the block and has a first position in the plane of the base member. The block includes a first triangular for engaging the support surface for pivotally moving the block and sealing lip at an angle to the base member when installed so that the sealing lip engages a door to effect a seal between the door and the sealing lip.
