  • Publication number: 20130296715
Abstract: A high-speed laser perfusion imaging instrument including a laser source, a detector, a signal-processing unit, data memory, and a screen to display results. A section of a sample surface is illuminated with laser light; reemitted light from the irradiated surface is collected by focusing optics on a 2D array of integrating photodetectors having elements that can be accessed individually or in a pre-defined selection of pixels at high speed. This 2D array measures intensity variations at each individual pixel. Average amplitude and mean frequency of the measured signal contain information about concentration and speed of moving blood cells. For real-time imaging, exposure time is used as a parameter to measure relative perfusion changes. These data are stored and processed with the signal-processing unit to deliver 2D flow maps of the illuminated sample section, and allow a simple overlay between a conventional image and processed flow maps.

  • Patent number: 6162359
Abstract: Process for recovering and reusing effluent gas from an ozonization reactor in a plant for treating effluent, especially sewage, which includes a biological reactor, a clarifier and an ozonization reactor. The effluent gas from the ozonization reactor is brought, as a cocurrent, into contact with a stream of water containing compounds that can be oxidized by the ozone, so that the residual ozone is removed and efficiently consumed. The effluent gas thus stripped of the residual ozone is then, optionally, pressurized using a fluid taken from the plant so as to produce a gas/liquid mixture. The gas liquid mixture is converted into an emulsion of fine bubbles, and the emulsion is introduced into the biological reactor, preferably near the bottom of the latter.

  • Patent number: 5366703
Abstract: A method for the generation of a supply of ozone containing process gas exhibiting high effective ozone content basically involves the steps of (a) providing a stream of an oxygen containing feed gas having a temperature not greater than about 50.degree. C. and an absolute pressure between about 1 and 3 bar, (b) subjecting the stream of feed gas to an electric discharge that transforms some of its oxygen content into ozone to produce a stream of ozone containing gas, and (c) compressing the ozone containing gas with simultaneous cooling thereof to produce a stream of ozone containing process gas having a temperature not greater than about the temperature of the feed gas, an absolute pressure greater than 3 bar and an absolute ozone partial pressure of at least 0.2 bar. Various systems for carrying out such methods are disclosed.
