  • Publication number: 20170021864
Abstract: A method for operating a vehicle, including detecting a surroundings of the vehicle; subdividing the detected surroundings into cells of an occupancy grid, the cells respectively having opposite lateral boundaries relative to a longitudinal axis of the vehicle, the lateral boundaries being formed by lane markings; ascertaining, based on the detected surroundings, an occupancy value of the specific cell into which the vehicle intends to change by a lane change; performing the lane change as a function of the ascertained occupancy value. A corresponding device as well as a corresponding computer program are also described.

  • Patent number: 8275497
Abstract: A method and device for assisting in driving a vehicle, particularly a motor vehicle, having a surroundings detector for detecting at least a partial area of the surroundings of the vehicle, an output device for the output of information concerning the vehicle surroundings obtained from the surroundings detection to a driver, and an evaluation unit for determining a risk level based on the vehicle-surroundings information. To facilitate driving of the vehicle, it is provided that at least a portion of the vehicle-surroundings information provided for determining the risk level, and the risk level determined by the evaluation unit are output continuously by the output device to the driver during operation of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20090299569
Abstract: An apparatus is described for assisting driving of a vehicle having at least two driver assistance systems and having an output device or element for communicating information items of at least one of the driver assistance systems to a driver of the vehicle. To relieve the strain on the driver, a control device or element, configured as an information coordinator and connected at its input side to the driver assistance systems and at its output side to the output device is provided for controlling information items of the driver assistance systems to be communicated to the driver.

  • Publication number: 20080272898
Abstract: In a method for warning the driver of a motor vehicle about a danger of collision with objects located in front of the host vehicle in the traffic lane being traveled by the vehicle, a decision about the output of a warning is made based on a deceleration criterion that relates to the vehicle deceleration necessary for avoiding the collision. The method includes: checking an evasion criterion that relates to the time needed for an evasive maneuver in relation to the time remaining until the collision; activating a first warning stage when one of the two criteria—deceleration criterion and evasion criterion—is satisfied for at least one object; and activating a second warning stage when the second criterion is also satisfied for this object.
