  • Patent number: 8569645
Abstract: A magnetic actuator circuit for high-voltage switchgear for a vacuum circuit breaker, including at least one permanent magnet and at least one coil connected in series with a transistor switch, and an electromechanical switch connected in series with the transistor switch and the coil. The first electromechanical switch and the transistor switch have an open default state, such that the electromechanical switch closes at an instant that precedes an instant of closing of the transistor switch, and such that it is returned to the open state once the transistor switch has returned to the open state. Such a magnetic actuator circuit may find application for putting a medium and/or high voltage apparatus into and out of circuit.

  • Patent number: 8013698
Abstract: A magnetic actuator comprises at least one coil surrounded by a magnetic circuit. The magnetic circuit possesses three legs and two facing end plates. The three legs comprise two outer legs on either side of the coil and an intermediate leg passing through the coil. The legs have no direct mechanical contact with one another. The two facing end plates magnetically interconnect the three legs. The magnetic circuit comprises a moving armature comprising at least one of the end plates, and a stationary portion including a yoke having at least the other one of the end plates and at least one permanent magnet. The permanent magnet is placed at one end of the intermediate leg beside the end plate of the yoke. The magnetic actuator can control medium-voltage and high-voltage circuit breaker vacuum chambers.

  • Patent number: 7843293
Abstract: Disclosed is a magnetic drive for an electrical switch, including a linear armature (26) displaceable between two ends positions, a shunt body (27) mounted at a distance from said armature and means (24, 25, 30, 31) for generating a magnetic field. The magnetic field exerts a force on the armature (26) retaining the latter in the end positions. By joining the shunt body (27) with the armature (26), the course of the flow lines of the magnetic field are changed in such a way that the retaining force exerted on the armature (26) is reduced and the latter is displaced to the other end position, optionally by a force exerted externally on the armature (26), and retained in the position by the magnetic field. Disconnection is effected by the shunt body (27), were after being joined with the shunt body (27) the armature (26) is moved from the end position opposite the shunt body (27) to the end position facing the shunt body (26).

  • Publication number: 20070171016
Abstract: The invention relates to a magnetic actuator comprising at least one coil (14) surrounded by a magnetic circuit (10), the magnetic circuit possessing: three legs (12.1, 12.2, 11), comprising two outer legs on either side of the coil (14) and an intermediate leg passing through the coil, these legs having no direct mechanical contact with one another; and two facing end plates (17, 18) magnetically interconnecting the three legs (12.1, 12.2, 11). The magnetic circuit comprises a moving armature (21) comprising at least one of the end plates (18), and a stationary portion (200) including a yoke (22) having at least the other one of the end plates (17) and at least one permanent magnet (13), the permanent magnet (13) being placed at one end of the intermediate leg (11) beside the end plate (17) of the yoke (22). The invention is applicable to controlling medium-voltage and high-voltage circuit breaker vacuum chambers.

  • Patent number: 6130594
Abstract: The present invention relates to a switch with a magnetic drive having an armature movable linearly between two end positions and connected to at least one switch contact, which is under the influence of magnetically generated forces in the end positions. The armature and a ferromagnetic element or shunt are arranged one behind the other in a space between a first and second stop. The stops are pole faces of magnetic circuits with a permanent magnet which exerts a force retaining the armature, movable toward the first stop by the force of an electromagnet, in the first stable end position when the shunt is in its end position at the second stop. Through the application of the shunt to the armature, the force exerted on the armature by the permanent magnet is reversed and transferred to the shunt, so that the shunt is moved to the second stop and the armature to the second stable end position on the shunt and held there by the force of the permanent magnet.
