Patent number: 12651870Abstract: Connector assemblies for high speed data communication are described. In one example, a connector assembly includes a plug mating interface, a surface mating interface, and a wafer assembly between the plug mating interface and the surface mating interface. The wafer assembly includes a wafer insert, a channel shield, a plurality of signal conductors extending within the channel shield, a conductive gasket positioned over open edges of the channel shield, and a shield cover positioned over the conductive gasket. The conductive gasket can be embodied as a conductive elastomeric gasket and provides a conductive shield over open edges of the channel shield. The conductive gasket can be positioned between the shield cover and the open edges of the channel shield. The conductive gasket and the shield cover help to enclose open areas in the channel shield and provide additional shielding for the signal conductors.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2024Date of Patent: June 9, 2026Assignee: Molex, LLCInventors: Javier Resendez, Jerber Mendoza, John C. Laurx, Jose J. Gonzalez, Jr., Marc E. Krause, Scott Edwards, William J. Miller, II

Publication number: 20240413590Abstract: Backplane connector systems include electromagnetic shielding terminal enclosures to protect high-speed, differential data signals from deleterious electromagnetic signals. Such terminal enclosures include connected, U-shaped shields that include protrusions that slidably contact one another to form a plurality of electrical ground paths. The plurality of paths direct such deleterious signals away from the high-speed, differential data signals.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 28, 2022Publication date: December 12, 2024Inventors: Timothy K. Ibarra, Timothy S. Elo, Michael D. Rost, John C. Laurx, William J. Miller, II, Jose J. Gonzalez, Jr., Joel Kwasny, Scott Edwards, Yilin Sung, Jerber Mendoza, Marc E. Krause

Publication number: 20040207992Abstract: An electrical system comprises an electrical circuit board for mounting electrical components and a circuit board sub-rack. The board includes a pivotally mounted ejector member which pivots to insert and eject the board from the sub-rack. The ejector member carries two grounding contact surfaces for engagement with the ground plane of the board and chassis area of the sub-rack when the ejector member is pivoted to its closed position. The contact surface of the ejector member mates with the board to frictionally hold the board in fully inserted position. The ejector member also includes a retaining arm which mates with the sub-rack for providing an insertion or ejection force to facilitate insertion or ejection of the board relative to the sub-rack.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 10, 2004Publication date: October 21, 2004Inventors: Surrinder S. Puri, Dennis Strong, Marc E. Krause

Patent number: 6302700Abstract: A circuit board defining a flange is used to interconnect conductors located on the flange with corresponding conductors of a conventional connector. The flange includes a key slot and two flange slots which promote alignment between the circuit board and the connector. The flange slots define a mouth with an angled edge which urge the connector into alignment with the flange slots.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 1999Date of Patent: October 16, 2001Assignee: Tellabs Operations, Inc.Inventors: Surrinder S.
