  • Patent number: 6339888
Abstract: A disposable shoe cover is provided for use with a wide range of foot sizes and different types of shoes and/or boots. A disposable shoe cover can be fabricated from a wide variety of different materials to enhance the performance of the resulting shoe cover. A disposable shoe cover is formed from three separate panels of material seamed together or from a single continuous web of material segmented into three panels by elastomeric bands. In one embodiment, the shoe cover may also include an angled seam section along the back heel portion to prevent bunching of the sole portion at or under the sole of the shoe.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 14, 2000
Date of Patent: January 22, 2002
    Assignee: Kimberly-Clark Worldwide, Inc.

  • Patent number: 6117515
Abstract: Disposable garments, protective clothing and accessory items formed from one or more layers of fractured plastic film or treated nonwoven material are provided for use in clean rooms and similar working environments. The use of non-particulating or low particulating fractured plastic films and treated nonwoven materials reduces particulate contamination resulting from wearing the associated garment or using the accessory item in a clean room environment. Samples of disposable clean room products may be tested in a manner that closely approximates the intended application for the respective disposable clean room product to provide a more realistic measure of particulate emission rates during actual wear or use.

  • Patent number: 5845641
Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided for use in collecting fluids discharged from a patient and liquids used in various types of medical procedures. The apparatus includes a fluid control pad formed from multiple layers of material and one or more pouches attached to the pad. A first layer of film, or backup sheet, is preferably formed from liquid impervious material such as coextruded low density polyethylene and ethyl vinyl acetate polymers. A portion of the backup sheet is covered with a second layer of superabsorbent material and a top layer of cover stock. The first layer of film may be folded to provided pouches disposed longitudinally on opposite sides of the second layer of superabsorbent material. A strip of fiber reinforced porous web type material may be disposed in the opening to each pouch to assist in directing excess fluids from the second layer of superabsorbent material into the associated pouch.
