Publication number: 20190175330Abstract: An adjustable implant is disclosed herein. The adjustable implant may comprise a shell including membrane and a base and having a first diameter in a plane parallel to the base. A band may be disposed within the shell. The band may have a first end and a second end connected to a spool. The band may be in a round (e.g., elliptical) configuration having a second diameter in the plane that is less than the first diameter. By wrapping the band onto the spool, the diameter of the band may be decreased and the height of the implant may be increased. By unwrapping the band from the spool, the diameter of the band may be increased and the height of the implant may be decreased.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 12, 2017Publication date: June 13, 2019Inventors: Marc Feinberg, James Fleming

Publication number: 20190133751Abstract: Various embodiments of an adjustable implant are disclosed herein. The adjustable implant comprises a hydraulic mechanism disposed within the shell, which includes a first component and a second component that is moveable with respect to the first component, and a band with a first and second end disposed within the shell in a round (e.g., elliptical) configuration having a second diameter in the plane that is less than the first diameter. In some embodiments, the first end of the band may be connected to the first component and the second end of the band may be connected to the second component. In some embodiments, the mechanism may include a fluid and a pump that has a first actuator comprising a first chamber and a second actuator comprising a second chamber. Depressing the first actuator causes the first component to move in a first direction, which reduces the diameter of the band and increases the height of the implant.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 8, 2017Publication date: May 9, 2019Inventors: Marc Feinberg, James Fleming

Publication number: 20190069988Abstract: The present disclosure describes various embodiments of adjustable implants, particularly permanent breast implants, intended for implantation into a subject, particularly a human subject. In some embodiments, the adjustable implant comprises a shell including a resilient shell membrane, a first reservoir containing a fluid, e.g., a saline, a second reservoir including a resilient second-reservoir membrane, and a pump. The pump may include a first pump actuator, a first pump inlet, and a first pump outlet. The first reservoir and second reservoir may be disposed within the shell and be in fluid communication via the pump. Fluid may be transferred between the two reservoirs to change the profile of the implant.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 1, 2017Publication date: March 7, 2019Inventors: Marc Feinberg, Michael Hoffman

Patent number: 9636200Abstract: An implant including a vaginal portion having a length, width, first and second ends with a central region positioned therebetween, and a sacral portion having a length, width, first end and second end. The first end of the sacral portion is coupled to the central region of the vaginal portion so that the width of the first end extends substantially perpendicularly to the length of the vaginal portion. The implant is made of the same substantially flat, planar mesh having an anisotropic knitted or woven structure that has a greater stiffness in a first direction than a second direction. The mesh is aligned such that the first direction is aligned in a longitudinal direction of the sacral portion and the mesh of the vaginal portion is aligned such that the stiffness in a longitudinal direction of the vaginal portion is less than that of the sacral portion.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2016Date of Patent: May 2, 2017Assignee: Ethicon, Inc.Inventors: Chanaka Amarasinghe, Marc Feinberg

Patent number: 7955315Abstract: A laparoscopic medical fluid delivery device includes a catheter having an articulating tip formed with shape memory properties and thus having a pre-shaped curvature. A tubular member is reciprocatingly slidable axially on the catheter to selectively cover and uncover portions of the articulating tip to thereby selectively vary the degree of curvature of the articulating tip. An actuator operatively linked to the tubular member selectively moves the tubular member reciprocatingly on the catheter. The pre-shaped articulating tip of the catheter is constrained by the tubular member from articulating to the pre-shaped curvature when the tubular member covers the articulating tip, and bends to a selected degree of curvature when the articulating tip is at least partially uncovered by the tubular member.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 2006Date of Patent: June 7, 2011Assignee: Ethicon, Inc.Inventors: Marc Feinberg, Jessica Liberatore, Richard Kocharian, Bruce E. Zaborowski

Patent number: 5458598Abstract: A cutting and coagulating forceps includes a housing with a protruding barrel, a pair of electrocautery jaws which are closed by camming contact with the mouth of the barrel when the jaws are retracted, and an independently sliding blade which passes between the jaws. The jaws are opened by squeezing a trigger, and the blade is advanced by pressing a lever with the thumb. Forward blade movement is limited by a stop whose position is a function of jaw position, so that the blade cannot strike the jaws, yet always can travel short of contact with the tips of the jaws.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 1993Date of Patent: October 17, 1995Assignee: Cabot Technology CorporationInventors: Marc Feinberg, Michael Seitzinger
