Patent number: 11947399Abstract: Systems and methods are described in which the location of a tap on the body of a handheld device is determined in real time using data streams from an embedded inertial measurement unit (IMU). Taps may be generated by striking the handheld device with an object (e.g., a finger), or by moving the handheld device in a manner that causes it to strike another object. IMU accelerometer, gyroscopic and/or orientation (relative to the magnetic and/or gravitational pull of the earth) measurements are examined for signatures that distinguish a tap at a location on the body of the device compared with signal characteristics produced by taps at other locations. Neural network and/or numerical methods may be used to perform such classifications.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 2023Date of Patent: April 2, 2024Assignee: Kibeam Learning, Inc.Inventors: Nelson George Publicover, Alexander Paul Barangan, Lewis James Marggraff, Marc Michael Thomas

Patent number: 11858350Abstract: Systems, methods and computer readable storage media provide flexible vehicle status notifications via an instrument cluster displayed on an in-vehicle screen. In some examples, when a non-displayed gauge goes into an out-of-parameter or warning range, the gauge may be dynamically shown in the out-of-parameter or warning state in a container position assigned to the gauge in another display or in a dynamic container position in the instrument cluster. In some examples, a popup notification may be provided to inform the driver of a condition. When there are multiple notifications, they may be grouped into definable severity classifications and prioritized so that a notification determined to be a most important message at the time is presented to the driver in a notification zone central to a driver's field of vision on the instrument cluster that allows for reusing screen space for providing warning and information from a range of data sources.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2020Date of Patent: January 2, 2024Assignee: PACCAR Inc.Inventors: Steven Karl Jahns, Ryan Anthony Reed, Jonathan Scott Duncan, Jon Forrest Acton, Jacob Michael White, Raeef Hesham Wahib Barsoum, Brett Grant Kellerstedt, Ian Ramsay Hunt, Hervé Jen Raymond Cecchi, Anna-Magdalena Schatz, Christina Nenke, Marc George Wilczak, Nicole Johnson

Patent number: 11718177Abstract: Systems, methods and computer readable storage media provide a flexible and variability-accommodating instrument cluster for display on an in-vehicle screen and a user experience interaction model for providing dynamic driving-context-relevant information via the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster may be shown in a contextual content view, wherein the contextual content view may include a one or more gauges and/or messaging that are determined to be relevant to a determined contextual state of the vehicle. The contextual state of the vehicle may be determined based on signaling data provided by a plurality of data sources, wherein the signaling data may indicate one or a combination of conditions associated with the contextual state. The instrument cluster may be dynamically updated to display the driving-context-relevant information when the contextual state is detected.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2020Date of Patent: August 8, 2023Assignee: PACCAR, Inc.Inventors: Steven Karl Jahns, Ryan Anthony Reed, Jonathan Scott Duncan, Josef Lotz, Kevin James Allen, Jerrold Adam Regan, Christina Nenke, Marc George Wilczak, Nicole Johnson

Patent number: 11636488Abstract: A method for the secure use of a personal identifier and/or financial instrument that may take place simultaneously with traditional methods of authorization for credit card, check, funds withdraw/transfer or purchase. Authorization according to the present invention may take place as follows: A) the Owner provides a pre-approval of authorization if the request meets an array of Owner-defined parameters; B) an authorization may be granted based on proximity of the Owner to the point of use; or C) the Owner provides a real time approval by smart device. In each case the invention subjects the request for authentication to a sequential verification procedure in which the request is tested against one or more pre-defined verification protocols, the deployed authentication protocol being pre-determined by the Owner and pre-selected in accordance with a user profile that was pre-programmed by the Owner.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 2021Date of Patent: April 25, 2023Inventor: Marc George

Patent number: 11623519Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer readable storage media provide dynamic chassis and tire status indications associated with a vehicle. Lift axle status data may be graphically represented by a lift axle indicator dynamically provided in a shared notification/messaging space positioned within the driver's line of sight during a lift axle transition. The lift axle indicator may include a side-view representation of the vehicle including a plurality of axle sections indicating the status of each axle. The lift axle indicator may be suppressed when air pressure is stabilized. Additionally, a graphical representation of data associated with statuses (e.g., air pressure, temperature) of each tire may be provided in a top-down view representation of the vehicle including its associated tire/axle configuration and the tire pressure for each tire. The graphical representation may be configured to reflect the correct number of axles and tires per position, and may further include a tractor versus trailer designation.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2020Date of Patent: April 11, 2023Assignee: PACCAR Inc.Inventors: Steven Karl Jahns, Jonathan Scott Duncan, Ryan Anthony Reed, Jon Forrest Acton, Jacob Michael White, David Leetz, Mark Andrew Wagner, Hervé Jen Raymond Cecchi, Anna-Magdalena Schatz, Christina Nenke, Marc George Wilczak, Nicole Johnson

Patent number: 11584232Abstract: Systems, methods and computer readable storage media provide a flexible and variability-accommodating instrument cluster for display on an in-vehicle screen and a user experience interaction model for providing vehicle status-related information via the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster may be shown in a minimized content view, basic content view, or enhanced content view, wherein each content view may include a varying range of displayed information based on a layout template. The driver can easily scroll between the various content views while driving. The instrument cluster may alternatively be shown in a favorites view, amongst a plurality of preconfigured favorites views associated with different drivers, the favorites view including a user-selected set of gauges in a user-selected layout. A steering wheel-based shortcut control is provided that can be assigned to a changeable parameter and used to toggle the parameter in association with an instrument cluster display element while driving.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2020Date of Patent: February 21, 2023Assignee: PACCAR IncInventors: Steven Karl Jahns, Ryan Anthony Reed, Jonathan Scott Duncan, Derek Scott Sancer, Jon Forrest Acton, Jacob Michael White, David Leetz, Steven Robert Rainey, Mark Andrew Wagner, Raeef Hesham Wahib Barsoum, Anna-Magdalena Schatz, Tobias Graening, Christina Nenke, Marc George Wilczak, Nicole Johnson

Patent number: 10301633Abstract: The invention relates to a nucleic acid molecule encoding a novel selection marker. Said marker is a guanidinobutyrase from Kluyveromyces lactis, which, when expressed in Saccharomyces, allows the growth of the yeast in the presence of guanidinobutyrate as the sole nitrogen source. Said marker can be used in a method for producing a microorganism having an altered genome. The invention further relates to a set of constructs, comprising a first construct comprising a recognition site for an endonuclease, a first region of homology with a target gene of a microorganism, and a first part of a nucleotide sequence encoding the selection marker, and a second construct comprising a second part of the nucleotide sequence encoding the selection marker, a second region of homology with the target gene of the microorganism, and a copy of the endonuclease recognition site.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 2015Date of Patent: May 28, 2019Assignee: HEINEKEN SUPPLY CHAIN B.V.Inventors: Jean-Marc Georges Daran, Jacobus Thomas Pronk, Gabriele Romagnoli
