  • Patent number: 8429956
Abstract: A piezoresistive pressure-measuring plug for a combustion engine. The pressure-measuring plug includes a plug body having a threaded plug body part with an external thread for screwing the plug body into a cylinder of the combustion engine, and a sealing plug body part forming a tip of the plug for providing a seal between the plug body and the combustion engine. The plug body further includes a sensing body part positioned between the threaded plug body part and the sealing plug body part. The sensing body part includes a cylindrical body part, a moving part, and a sensing structure that form a single integral piece. The sensing structure forms a connection between the cylindrical body part and the moving part, and allows the moving part to move relatively to the cylindrical body part along a cylinder axis of the cylindrical body part.

  • Patent number: 8297115
Abstract: A piezoresistive pressure-measuring plug for a combustion engine for measuring a pressure. The piezoresistive pressure-measuring plug: includes a plug body for insertion into a cylinder of the combustion engine, a rod that is arranged in the plug body, a sensing structure comprising a piezoresistive element, that is arranged between the rod and the plug body such that the sensing structure is acted upon, when in use, by the pressure prevailing in the combustion chamber of the cylinder. The sensing structure is arranged in the plug body and, when in use, is compressed in an axial direction by the force applied to the sensing structure and a piezoresistive element mounted on the sensing structure. A PWB is also arranged in the plug body. Such a pressure-measuring plug provides improved bandwidth and reduced build-in height.

  • Publication number: 20090320576
Abstract: A piezoresistive pressure-measuring plug (100) for a combustion engine for measuring a pressure is disclosed. The piezoresistive pressure-measuring plug (100) comprises: a plug body (106, 108, 110) for insertion into a cylinder of the combustion engine, a rod (102) that is arranged in the plug body (106, 108, 110), a sensing structure (104) comprising a piezoresistive element, that is arranged between the rod (102) and the plug body (106, 108, 110) in such a way that the sensing structure is acted upon, in use, by the pressure prevailing in the combustion chamber of the cylinder, whereby the rod (102) transmits the pressure in the combustion chamber of the cylinder to the sensing structure due to the pressure in the combustion chamber leading to an axial motion of the rod (102) relative to the plug body (106, 108, 110) so as to apply a force to the sensing structure (104) and a PWB (114) provided with sensor electronics for measuring and conditioning a resistance change.

  • Patent number: 7467891
Abstract: A sensor arrangement (1) for measuring a pressure and a temperature in a fluid is disclosed. The sensor arrangement (1) comprises a temperature sensitive electrical element (3) and a pressure sensing electrical element (6), the temperature sensitive electrical element (3) and pressure sensing electrical element (6) are both coupled to one side of a metallic membrane structure (4,16). The metallic membrane structure is arranged to pass on the temperature of the fluid which is at the other side of the membrane structure (4,16) to the temperature sensitive electrical element (3) and to pass on the pressure in the fluid to the pressure sensing electrical element (6). In this way a combined pressure and temperature sensor is obtained which is applicable in vehicle air-conditioning systems working with CO2 as refrigerant.

  • Patent number: 7337657
Abstract: A pressure glow plug for a diesel engine has a glow plug body 2 for being inserted into a cylinder of the diesel engine, a heating rod 1 that is arranged in the glow plug body 2 and a pressure sensor 9 that is arranged between the heating rod 1 and the glow plug body 2 in such a way that the pressure in the combustion chamber of the cylinder that is transmitted by the heating rod 1 influences the pressure sensor 9. The heating rod 1 is arranged in the glow plug body 2 such that it can be displaced in an axially sliding fashion, namely by a corresponding sliding element, for example, a membrane 7 or seals 3.

  • Patent number: 6742395
Abstract: A port fitting (102) is formed with a closed, pedestal end forming a diaphragm (102a) on which a strain gauge sensor is mounted. A support member (106) is received on the pedestal end and is formed with a flat end wall (106a) having an aperture (106d) aligned with the sensor. A circuit assembly (108) is bonded to the flat end wall and the sensor wire bonded to the electronic circuit. A cover member (114) placed on the support member, is provided with a cavity for a metal shield member (118) fitted inside the cover member before assembly. The shield member is formed with spring members (118b) extending outside the perimeter of the cover member. The cover member is formed with circular cavities (114d) extending in an axial direction to provide seating for contact spring members (117), making electronic contact to the sensor electronics and protruding beyond the body of the cover member. The cover member is also fitted with a circular elastomer gasket member (116), providing an environmental seal.
