  • Publication number: 20140334609
Abstract: A probing signal transmitted on a twisted pair telephone line in a DSL system is reflected and received at a DSL device. An estimate of one of a DSL data transmission signal or DSL synch symbol transmission signal is removed from the received probing signal to recover the reflected probing signal. The recovered reflected probing signal is processed to determine characteristics information of the twisted pair telephone line.

  • Publication number: 20120134397
Abstract: A Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) Management Center (DMC) coupled to a DSL network includes a data collection module that receives information regarding the DSL network from a plurality of sources. An analysis module is coupled to the data collection module to analyze the received information and issue a command for one or more of a plurality of DSL performance enhancement devices to optimize their operation. A command signal generation module is coupled to the analysis module to receive the issued command from the analysis module and generate a corresponding command signal for transmission to one or more of the DSL performance enhancement devices.

  • Patent number: 7430606
Abstract: The certificate revocation lists at access points of a wireless access network can be reduced. In one embodiment, an Internet Service Provider (“ISP”) connected to the wireless access network can receive a subscription request from a user terminal capable of accessing the ISP using the wireless access network. When the ISP assigns a subscription identifier to the user terminal, it also provides a service certificate signed by a certificate authority including the subscription identifier. In addition, the ISP also provides the user terminal one or more session certificates to be used to access the wireless access network, where the session certificates having a shorter validity period than the service certificate.

  • Patent number: 7386043
Abstract: A method and apparatus for increasing the spectral efficiency of communications systems by employing portions of the spectrum, which portions might otherwise be reserved as all or part of guard bands and not utilized (i.e., effectively wasted), for communicating at reduced power levels between devices that are determined to experience relatively high performance (e.g., relatively little path loss, etc.). In a communication system having a first predefined maximum system transmission power level for in-band transmissions, a method is provided for determining that communication performance between a first communication device and a second communication device exceeds a performance threshold. Based on the determination, a first band-edge channel for communication between the first communication device and the second communication device (i.e., transmission from the first device to the second device and/or visa versa) is assigned.
