Patent number: 10823949Abstract: A beam splitter device (1) for a microscope (2), and for a microscope imaging method, supports at least two beamsplitting surfaces (4, 14). The two beamsplitting surfaces (4, 14) have different reflection-to-transmission ratios. The beam splitter device (1) has an optical path (3, 3a, 3b). A first one of the two beamsplitting surfaces (4, 14) is configured to be moved from a first operation position (15), in which the first beamsplitting surface (4) is located in the optical path, to a second operation position (16), in which a second (14) of the beamsplitting surfaces (4, 14) is located in the optical path. With this configuration, it is possible to change the available light in the branches (3a, 3b) of the optical path (3) after the beamsplitting surface (4, 14). This is useful if one of the branches (3a, 3b) is directed to an exit port (8) configured to receive a camera. By directing more light to the camera exit port (8), the image quality of the camera is improved.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 2016Date of Patent: November 3, 2020Assignee: Leica Instruments (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.Inventors: Manfred Kuster, Heinrich Wilhelm Dreyer, Heinz Suhner, Luca Tobler, Marc Hocke, Patrick Wolf, Ralf Koerber

Patent number: 9454896Abstract: A medical technical apparatus includes an optical viewing unit including a receiver unit and a wireless footswitch device. The wireless footswitch device includes at least one switch configured to generate a control command corresponding to a performance of a function of the optical viewing unit, a transmitter unit configured to wirelessly, unidirectionally transmit data signals corresponding to the control command from the wireless footswitch device to the optical viewing unit using radio technology, a control processor, and a switching device. The switching device is configured to switch the control processor from an operating mode to a standby mode upon completion of a data transfer of the data signals from the wireless footswitch to the optical viewing unit and is also configured to switch the control processor from the standby mode to the operating mode in response to an actuation of the at least one switch for generating the control command.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 2011Date of Patent: September 27, 2016Assignee: LEICA MICROSYSTEMS (SCHWEIZ) AGInventor: Marc Hocke

Patent number: 9247999Abstract: A microscope device (100) includes a surgical microscope (20), a camera (30), connected to the surgical microscope (20), for sensing an object (200) imaged by the surgical microscope, a stand (10) carrying the surgical microscope (20) as well as the camera (30), an operating unit (50), spatially separated from the camera (30), for controlling device functions of the camera (30). The operating unit (30) includes a screen (40) for displaying activatable device functions (51) and a selection and activation means, embodied as an actuatable rotary/push operating means (60), for selecting and activating one of the device functions displayed. The operating unit (50) is set up such that by rotating the rotary/push operating means (60), one (52) of the displayed device functions is selected, and by pushing the rotary/push operating means (60), the selected device function (52) is activated.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 2012Date of Patent: February 2, 2016Assignee: Leica Microsystems (Schweiz) AGInventors: Marc Hocke, Hakim El Haddouchi

Patent number: 8082434Abstract: A system and method for providing a secure computing environment to untrusted computer systems is described. A carrier media and an interface are provided, the interface being connectable to a computer to enable communication between the computer and the carrier media. The carrier media encodes a secure computing environment and a boot system, upon connection of the system via the interface to a computer system and booting of the computer system, the boot system is operative to take over the boot process of the computer system and to authenticate the user, wherein upon successful authentication, the boot system is arranged to load the secure computing environment on the computer system, the secure computing environment being configured to prevent predetermined interaction from outside the secure computing environment when it is running.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 2008Date of Patent: December 20, 2011Assignee: Becrypt LimitedInventors: Marc Hocking, Nigel Lee, Andrew Palka
