Abstract: A system and method for creating user profiles in a television system are described. The system comprises a storage medium having storage locations to store user profiles for a plurality of users; a user interface for creating new user profiles having fields for data entry to be stored in the storage medium; the user interface for creating new user profiles comprising a user option to select and copy data from a stored user profile; and means to select a stored user profile, copy selected data from the stored user profile to corresponding fields in the new user profile, and save the new user profile at a storage location.
