Publication number: 20120058280Abstract: A method for manufacturing a solid-state battery device. The method can include providing a substrate within a process region of an apparatus. A cathode source and an anode source can be subjected to one or more energy sources to transfer thermal energy into a portion of the source materials to evaporate into a vapor phase. An ionic species from an ion source can be introduced and a thickness of solid-state battery materials can be formed overlying the surface region by interacting the gaseous species derived from the plurality of electrons and the ionic species. During formation of the thickness of the solid-state battery materials, the surface region can be maintained in a vacuum environment from about 10-6 to 10-4 Torr. Active materials comprising cathode, electrolyte, and anode with non-reactive species can be deposited for the formation of modified modulus layers, such a void or voided porous like materials.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 8, 2011Publication date: March 8, 2012Applicant: Sakti3, Inc.Inventors: Myoungdo Chung, Hyoncheol Kim, Ann Marie Sastry, Marc Langlois

Publication number: 20110202522Abstract: Various users' navigational behaviors relative to search results presented by a search engine are monitored. URLs that are visited and revised queries that are submitted after the submission of an original query are placed within a trail that begins with the original query. These trails are grouped based on the original queries with which they begin. For each trail group, a set of URLs that frequently occur in that group's trails, and a set of revised queries that frequently occur in that group's trails, are determined. These frequently occurring elements are mapped to the original queries with which all the trails in the corresponding trail group begin. In response to subsequent submissions of the same original query, the search engine ensures that URLs and revised queries that are mapped to the original query are prominently displayed on the search results pages that are initially returned in response to those submissions.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 18, 2010Publication date: August 18, 2011Inventors: David Ciemiewicz, Ya Zhang, Belle Tseng, Jean-Marc Langlois

Publication number: 20050145474Abstract: Liquid organic material is controllably delivered to a receptacle located in the center of a heated surface capable of horizontally rotating about its central axis. As the heated surface rotates, material deposited within the central receptacle is forced outwardly and across the rotating surface. As the material moves radially, it evaporates into a vapor which is then transported to one or more nozzles. From the nozzles, the vapor is applied to a substrate and condensed. Relative to existing devices and methods, the present invention enables the evaporation of a wider variety of organic liquids, greater reliability in continuous operation, a decrease in maintenance, and a larger and more constant material flow rate.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 16, 2005Publication date: July 7, 2005Inventors: Charles Lemme, Marc Langlois

Publication number: 20040250767Abstract: A method and apparatus for coating a surface of a substrate using combustion chemical vapor deposition is disclosed. A chemical vapor deposition stream, composed of a coating precursor and a combustible medium, is directed toward a substrate and combusted to provide a reacted coating precursor in a gaseous plume. The plume is modified by exposing it to a shield prior to the plume contacting the surface of the substrate and depositing a coating thereon. The shield serves to control the coating thickness and material characteristics of the deposited material.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 21, 2004Publication date: December 16, 2004Applicant: Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials, L.L.C.Inventors: Marc Langlois, Anthony A. Publication number: 20040241454Abstract: Material with high oxygen barrier properties is prepared by evaporating polyfunctional acrylate monomer and condensing the acrylate as a monomer film on a plastic sheet, or by roll coating acrylate monomer onto a sheet in a vacuum. The acrylate is polymerized by irradiation by ultraviolet or electron beam. A layer of metal or oxide oxygen barrier material is applied over the first layer of cross-linked acrylate. A polymerized acrylate layer is applied over the metal layer. Low oxygen permeability polypropylene, polyester or nylon sheets can be made by these methods. Adhesion of the acrylate layer on the plastic sheet substrate is enhanced by reactive plasma treatment of a surface immediately before deposition, the plasma treatment and coating being conducted in vacuum within less than three seconds between plasma treatment and coating. Condensation efficiency is also enhanced by chilling the substrate of the substrate on which the acrylate is condensed to temperatures below 0° C.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 26, 2003Publication date: December 2, 2004Inventors: David G. Shaw, Daniel S. Cline, Eric P. Dawson, Marc Langlois

Patent number: 6420003Abstract: A thermoplastic container or packaging material is given low oxygen permeability by coating with a crosslinked acrylate layer and a layer of oxygen barrier material deposited over the acrylate layer. Another acrylate layer may be deposited over the oxygen barrier. The oxygen barrier is selected from the group consisting of silicon oxide, aluminum oxide and metal. The acrylate layer may be formed from a photopolymerizable polyfunctional acrylate that is sufficiently low viscosity to be sprayed on the substrate or applied by dipping. Alternatively, the acrylate layer is a polymerization product of an acrylate monomer which is evaporated in a vacuum, condensed on the substrate and polymerized by irradiation by ultraviolet or an electron beam.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2000Date of Patent: July 16, 2002Assignee: 3M Innovative Properties CompanyInventors: David G. Publication number: 20010028921Abstract: Several techniques may be used for forming a colored interference filter coating on a substrate such as polyester film. The interference filter has two metal reflective films, at least one of which is semi-transparent. A layer of transparent acrylate polymer dielectric between the metal layers completes the interference filter, which may be sandwiched between protective layers. The dielectric is formed by evaporating an acrylate monomer having a molecular weight in the range of from 150 to 600. Preferably the acrylate monomer has a molecular weight to acrylate group ratio in the range of from 150 to 400. The acrylate condenses on the substrate and is polymerized in situ for forming a monolithic film with a sufficient thickness to produce an interference color. In several embodiments different areas of the film have different thicknesses for producing different interference colors.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 8, 2001Publication date: October 11, 2001Applicant: 3M Innovative Properties CompanyInventors: David G.
