  • Patent number: 11490359
Abstract: A system includes a server, a plurality of end devices, and at least one gathering gateway serving as a relay between the server and the end devices. The server creates at least one group and allocates end devices to each group created; defines, for each group, instances of a group reception window separated by a period so as to occur at deterministic instants; receives uplink frames coming from end devices; for such end device allocated to a group, acknowledges the uplink frames received in a downlink frame transmitted in multicast mode, in such group reception window defined for said group, said downlink frame including a group acknowledgement for all the uplink frames sent by end devices of the group during the period preceding said instance of the group reception window; and, for such end device that is not allocated to a group, acknowledges the uplink frames received in unicast mode.

  • Patent number: 11477692
Abstract: Some protocols for the transmission of data on a communication network, such as the LoRaWAN protocol, use frames comprising payloads intended to transport useful data, the size of which may vary from one frame to another. A communication method is proposed in order to transmit data on this type of network. This method is based on a division of a payload packet into a set of blocks and then an insertion of the blocks thus formed into at least one segment. Each segment comprises a number of blocks suited to a payload size at the time of creation of the segment. The segments are next supplemented with verification information enabling an addressee of the data packet to determine whether it has received all the blocks. In the event of non-reception of all the blocks, the sender of the blocks retransmits at least the blocks not received.

  • Patent number: 11343744
Abstract: In the context of management of handover roaming, a communication system comprises a first LPWAN network of a first operator and a second LPWAN network of a second operator. The first network comprises gathering gateways, a first server managing the gathering gateways, and a second server controlling the MAC layer. The second network comprises a third server interfacing fourth and fifth servers with the second server. Uplink frames of application data are transported from an end device of the second operator to the fourth server by successive relayings of the first, second and third servers. However, when the end device of the second operator requests joining the communication system in order to benefit from the services of the fourth server, the gathering gateways communicate with the fifth server, short-circuiting the first, second and third servers.

  • Patent number: 11223989
Abstract: A communication system comprises a first LPWAN network of a first operator and a second LPWAN network of a second operator. The first network comprises subnetworks implementing separate respective transport protocols. The subnetworks comprise at least one convergence node and communication nodes integrating gathering gateways. The first network comprises servers interconnected to a server of the second network interfacing an application server and an authentication server. Uplink frames of application data are transported from an end device of the second operator to the application server by successive relayings of the servers. However, when the end device of the second operator requests to join the communication system in order to benefit from the services of the application server, the gathering gateways communicate directly with the authentication server by shortcutting the other servers as well as the convergence nodes to which said gathering gateways are respectively attached.

  • Patent number: 11165465
Abstract: A method for transporting LoRa frames over a first network of a system for the automated management of meterings from a plurality of electricity meters, referred to as meters, said meters in the plurality being attached to at least one data concentrator via the first network, each data concentrator being connected to a server via a second network. The method is executed by a meter in the plurality and comprises: receiving a frame, each frame received corresponding to the same frame sent by an endpoint; relaying a received frame, referred to as the first frame, corresponding to said sent frame, in the direction of the server, the first frame being selected in accordance with a predetermined criterion; when a plurality of frames corresponding to said sent frame are received, rejecting at least a subset of frames in the plurality of frames different from the first frame.

  • Patent number: 11146421
Abstract: An LPWAN communication system includes server equipment, at least one gateway and at least one relay. Each gateway communicates with terminals using a Class A communication mode, wherein any response intended for a terminal uses a reception window defined with respect to a transmission time of an original message by said terminal. Each relay is seen as a terminal by each gateway, and communicates with terminals in accordance with a Class A? communication mode, defined as follows: the relay transmits beacons at regular intervals and listens out to terminals only during timeslots defined with respect to said beacons. In this Class A? communication mode, the relay propagates any response toward a terminal using at least one other reception window defined with respect to a transmission time of an original message by said terminal.

  • Patent number: 11089592
Abstract: A communication method, executed in a network of the LoRa type wherein terminals communicate with a server by means of gateways in a set of gateways, each gateway being associated with a set of terminals comprising at least one terminal using said gateway to communicate with the server. The method enables a second gateway to relay, in a downlink frame, a response to a message received in an uplink frame by a first gateway, different from the second gateway, even if the second gateway has not received the uplink frame.

  • Patent number: 11057158
Abstract: A communication system includes a server with at least one end device and one gathering gateway that transmit to the server uplink frames having moments of transmission according to which are defined reception windows intended for downlink frames supposed to be constructed by the server and relayed by one said gathering gateway selected by the server. A disengageable delegation mechanism vis-à-vis at least one elected end device is implemented in collaboration with the server by an elected gathering gateway by: allocating a buffer to each elected end device and storing therein useful data received asynchronously from the server for the attention of said elected end device; and by constructing and transmitting, on behalf of the server, downlink frames in response to the uplink frames received from each elected end device.

  • Patent number: 10742266
Abstract: A device included in a communication system that includes a LoRa endpoint and a LoRa server. Each LoRa frame exchanged between the endpoint and the server has to pass through a meter and a data concentrator included in a first powerline communication network of a system for the automatic management of readings from meters. The meters are attached to at least one data concentrator via the first network. At least one of the meters implements a LoRa gateway that has a communication interface enabling it to exchange LoRa frames with the endpoint. The device is connected to each data concentrator by a second network and to the server by a third network. Each LoRa frame exchanged between the endpoint and the server (1) passes through the device and (2) is encapsulated in a frame according to a frame format that the server will exchange with a LoRa gateway.
