  • Publication number: 20050288128
Abstract: A method for conducting a postseason championship playoff series of sporting events includes the initial step of determining the total number of teams to participate in the postseason series by multiplying the total number of teams in the league by a minority influence value of 0.37. A postseason tournament is then conducted with the first round of events comprised of games of the postseason teams based upon rankings at the end of the regular season. The winners of the first round are then re-seeded and additional rounds of events are conducted until a champion is determined.

  • Publication number: 20050282612
Abstract: A gaming apparatus includes a housing with a front operable surface and a visual display region thereon. The visual display region includes a plurality of windows disposed in a rectangular positional array of four rows and four columns with a plurality of paylines defined by a line intersecting four adjacent elements in a single row, column or diagonal on the array. A button or mechanical arm on the housing will cause all of the symbols in the array to be randomly selected and displayed as part of a gaming sequence. A payout is generated if one or more of the selected paylines contain a predetermined number of predetermined symbols. The housing further includes three additional screen displays of various table games, for potential play if a winning combination is achieved in the main window.

A payout is generated if one or more of the selected paylines contain a predetermined number of predetermined symbols. In a second embodiment of the invention, the housing includes a screen display of a roulette wheel of the type having four different colored balls simultaneously moving around the wheel, each ball operable to fall within one of thirty-eight slots on the wheel and the slots of a size to receive up to all four balls.

  • Publication number: 20030094752
Abstract: A method for playing a roulette-type game includes the initial step of providing a playing field for betting on the conclusions of a plurality of gaming trials, prior to initiating the plurality of trials. The playing field restricts bets to create a house advantage. Once a bet is placed, the trials are initiated and the conclusion of each trial noted. The winning and losing bets are not determined until after the conclusion of the plurality of trials. In one embodiment of the invention, the roulette wheel includes 38 pockets for receiving at least one ball, numbered from 0-37.

  • Patent number: 6209869
Abstract: A roulette game includes a conventional roulette wheel modified to include a plurality of tracks, to receive the simultaneous play of a plurality of balls. A plurality of independent tables are then provided extending from the roulette wheel, each table associated with one of the plurality of balls on the wheel. Each table includes one playing field for placing bets on a single ball of the plurality, and a second playing field for placing bets relative to the plurality of balls. In the method of playing the roulette game, a player places a bet as to the pocket or pockets on the wheel in which the plurality of balls will be located at the outcome of a spin. The roulette wheel is then rotated in a first direction, and a plurality of balls are propelled in the opposite direction along tracks in the roulette wheel. The pockets in which each of the balls falls during a spin is identified, and winning and losing bets are then determined.

  • Patent number: 6053823
Abstract: A method for conducting a championship playoff includes the steps of ranking participating teams after a regular season by adding the ranks of each team based upon at least two different polls, and assigning a final rank for each team based upon the summation of these polls. A championship tournament is then conducted with a plurality of rounds of events to reduce the initial number of teams to a single champion. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, one poll is a poll of sports writers, a second poll is a poll of coaches, and a third poll is an objective poll, with the first and second polls being weighted more heavily than the objective poll. Each round of events in the championship playoff would be played at different site locations. A secondary tournament would be conducted utilizing the highest ranked teams below those which are utilized in the championship tournament.
