  • Publication number: 20130120159
Abstract: A method for the communication of a vehicle with at least one further vehicle and/or for the communication of a vehicle with an infrastructure device (C2X communication), wherein the communication serves to transmit at least one information item for application in a driver assistance system and/or a safety system of the vehicle. In order to ensure good safety and reliability of the driver assistance system or safety system in the case of low market penetration of C2X communication, the at least one information item is transmitted via a first communication channel and/or via a second communication channel in dependence on its nature, wherein the first communication channel has a longer latency period than the second communication channel. The invention also describes a corresponding communication device, a corresponding driver assistance system or a corresponding safety system, a corresponding vehicle, a program element and a computer-readable medium.

  • Patent number: 8331338
Abstract: A network-based emergency call device for a vehicle. A first connection between the vehicle and a server is firmly prescribed as a permanent IP connection. This connection is used to send an emergency call, together with the necessary emergency call data to the server. The latter forwards the emergency to all the registered assistance units via further connections directly and without human action. The assistance unit providing assistance is selected automatically by taking the emergency call by an assistance unit. The subsequent setup of a communication link between the assistance unit taking the call and the vehicle involves the use of the already existing IP connection between the vehicle and the server for the communication link which is to be set up. The data to be transmitted and the data rate can also be customized to the current situation of the vehicle and to the surroundings of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20120252415
Abstract: A method for communicating between a first motor vehicle and at least one second motor vehicle, belonging to a mobile communication network including at least two motor vehicles. In a first step only one identifying piece of information is exchanged between the vehicles by each driver for forming a communication network by a radio communication unit via radio connection in order to initiate the internal communication of the vehicles present in a column formation, said piece of information being entered in a second step into a network communication unit of each vehicle, in order to join the communication network after acknowledgement by a network communication unit of at least one of the other vehicles belonging to the communication network. The identifying piece of information is an authentication, and the authentication takes place for each vehicle by a randomly generated password.
