Abstract: A vaginal tampon is disclosed which is made out of a cellular material having semi-open cells and impregnated with a compound of a contraceptive composition and of a delaying medium having gelifying properties when moistened by internal secretions and by preliminary dipping within water, the tampon thus swelling to realize an efficient mechanical barrier while the dry compound is progressively and durably released.
