  • Patent number: 11945326
Abstract: A method for charging a high-voltage battery of an electric vehicle, comprising: providing the high-voltage battery having a nominal battery voltage; providing a charging station outputting a DC charging voltage; selectively pre-charging a second charging terminal of the charging station to a predetermined pre-charge voltage using a controllably limited pre-charge current supplied by electric power from the high-voltage battery.

  • Publication number: 20230352948
Abstract: A method for a treatment of fault currents in a high-voltage battery connected to a charging station via a charging circuit in a motor vehicle is presented. An electric protective-conductor connection is established between a protective conductor on the charging station side and a protective conductor on the battery side, which is electrically insulated to the first high-voltage potential on the battery side and the second high-voltage potential on the battery side to connect the protective conductor on the battery side via the protective conductor on the charging station side to a ground potential on the charging station side for the high-voltage battery. Upon a fault condition, a fault current circuit forms via the charging station and the protective-conductor connection with a fault current supplied from the high-voltage battery. The fault current is reduced and/or limited by a fault current controller of the charging circuit for a predetermined minimum duration.

  • Patent number: 11673482
Abstract: A method for charging a high-voltage battery of an electric vehicle, comprising: providing the high-voltage battery having a nominal battery voltage; providing a charging station outputting a DC charging voltage less than the nominal battery voltage; draining current between a first battery terminal and a protective earth terminal such that the voltage between the first battery terminal and the protective earth terminal essentially matches with the voltage between a first charging terminal and the protective earth terminal, and boosting the voltage at a second charging terminal of the charging station to match the charging voltage with the nominal battery voltage.
