  • Patent number: 9259987
Abstract: A method for monitoring and controlling a chassis pneumatic ride-height control system. Repeatedly measuring a current height of the chassis; detecting when the current height of the chassis exceeds at least one predefined height threshold. A time interval threshold is associated with the height threshold; repeatedly measuring a time interval in which the current height of the chassis exceeds the predefined height threshold; detecting when the measured lime interval exceeds the predefined time interval threshold associated with the predefined height threshold; repeatedly checking whether both the height threshold and the associated time interval threshold are exceeded, and if so, preventing the current height of the chassis from rising further and/or increasing stability of the chassis; deactivating the measures when the repeated check shows that the current height of the chassis is below the at least one height threshold and the associated time interval threshold.

  • Patent number: 8761999
Abstract: A level control system for a vehicle includes a pressure generator (10) for generating a pressure difference between a reservoir (11) containing a pressurized medium and at least one pressure-controlled actuating mechanism (12i) in order to adjust a predefined vehicle chassis level (di,soll), and a valve unit (13) for performing an overflow process between the reservoir (11) containing the pressurized medium and the at least one pressure-controlled actuating mechanism (12i). An evaluation unit (24) decides whether and to what extent the predefined vehicle chassis level (di, soll) can be adjusted by exclusively actuating the valve unit (13) based on a vehicle chassis level (di,erw) that is to be expected in case the overflow process is performed.

  • Patent number: 7937205
Abstract: In order to ensure problem-free operation of a vehicle when a wedge of material is formed between the roadway and the vehicle, a method for controlling the functions of an electronic driving stability program automatically activates or deactivates the driving stability program of the vehicle according to the respective operational situation of the motor vehicle. The driving stability program is automatically deactivated when the vehicle drives onto a wedge of material on the roadway. A determination whether the vehicle drives onto a wedge of material on the roadway is made by means of the air springs of the vehicle and associated distance sensor and/or pressure sensors.

  • Patent number: 7881840
Abstract: Disclosed is a level control system in which the operational readiness of the compressor (2) is tested by connecting the pressure sensor (10) to the output (6) of the compressor (2) via a compressed-air sensor line (8). All other compressed-air lines that are connected to the output (6) of the compressor (2) are locked by shutting directional control valves (201 to 20d and 30). The compressor (2) is then switched on and it is tested how rapidly the pressure increases on the pressure sensor (10). If the increase per interval exceeds a defined threshold value, the compressor is operationally ready.

  • Patent number: 6752402
Abstract: A level control system for a motor vehicle having a vehicle body includes a plurality of air springs which can be filled or discharged with pressurized air to control the level of the vehicle body. A first control apparatus controls the functions of filling and discharging the air springs in dependence upon the level of the vehicle body. A communications channel interconnects the first control apparatus to a second control apparatus. A switch triggers an additional function in the level control system and this switch is movable between a first switching state and a second switching state. The switch is connected to the second control apparatus and the second control apparatus functions to transmit a signal sequence via the communications channel to the first control apparatus when the switch is transferred from the first switching state into the second switching state. The first control apparatus operates to carry out the additional function when the first control apparatus receives the signal sequence.

  • Patent number: 6729363
Abstract: An air spring arrangement of the motor vehicle is equipped with a tire-fill device which includes the fill unit (20) and a tire-fill connection unit (4). A filling of a reserve tire is ensured even when there is an electric fault in the level control system. The tire-fill connection unit (4) includes an air supply connection (6), a proximity switch (8), an electric sensor connection (10) and a pneumatic connection (12) for rapid coupling and valve connection. The proximity switch (8) includes a reed contact (28) which includes three terminals (32a, 32b, 32c) which are connected to a control apparatus (34). A component (14) has a pneumatic valve connection (16) and a permanent magnet (18) and is connected to the pneumatic connection (12). The permanent magnet (18) excites the reed contact (28) to switch when the component (14) is connected to the tire-fill connection unit (4).

Abstract: In a motor vehicle equipped with air springs, the compressor of the level control system is used to inflate a spare wheel. For this purpose, the air spring arrangement of the motor vehicle is equipped with a tire-fill device which includes the fill unit (20) and a tire-fill connection unit (4).
