Patent number: 11498726Abstract: A package having a lid seated on a base where the edge of the seated lid is generally inaccessible, and where the edge is made accessible by a movement of a tamper-evident tab. The base and lid are configured so that opening of the tamper-evident tab locks the tab in the opened position. The inner edge of the tamper-evident tab is joined to the base by a hinge. The tamper-evident tab includes a protrusion that extends inwardly beyond the hinge. The lid includes a retention feature overlying the tamper-evident tab. The protrusion interacts with the retention feature to provide an audible indication when the tamper-evident tab is opened and to retain the tamper-evident tab in the opened position. The protrusion may be configured to lift the lid when the tamper-evident tab is in the opened position.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2020Date of Patent: November 15, 2022Assignee: Display Pack, Inc.Inventors: Victor D. Hansen, Andrew J. Blackmore, Elliott R. Eckert, Marc R. Meyer

Publication number: 20160101907Abstract: A package having a lid seated on a base where the edge of the seated lid is generally inaccessible due to contours in the base, and where the edge is made accessible by a tamper-evident tab arrangement. The base includes a tamper-evident tab and a fixed tab disposed on a flange extending about the base. The tamper-evident tab is joined to the base on opposite ends by a breakable land and a permanent land. The tamper-evident tab is movable by breaking the tamper-evident tab free from the base on one end by breaking the breakable land and bending the tamper-evident tab out of the way about the permanent land to provide access to the peripheral edge of the lid. The tamper-evident tab may include an extension adjacent to the breakable land and the fixed tab may include an extension adjacent to the tamper-evident tab extension opposite the breakable land.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 27, 2015Publication date: April 14, 2016Inventors: Andrew J. Blackmore, David A. Korhorn, Marc R. Meyer, Gordon L. Beach, Victor D. Hansen

Patent number: 8640914Abstract: A tamper-evident tab construction for a thermoformed package. In one embodiment, the package includes top and bottom parts with overlapping tabs. The top and bottom parts may include locking tabs that interlock with one another and provide a structure for holding the package while it is being opened. The top part may also include a pull tab located proximate the locking tabs. The pull tab is configured to provide a structure for pulling the top part away from the bottom part to open the package. The pull tab may be joined to the top part by a small land of material that is configured to deform when the package is opened. As a result, the pull tab may remain at an angle after opening to provide a visual indication that the package may have been opened or tampered with.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 2012Date of Patent: February 4, 2014Assignee: Display Pack, Inc.Inventors: Marc R. Meyer, Gordon L. Beach, Andrew J. Blackmore, David A. Korhorn

Publication number: 20100072218Abstract: A blister package is provided including a blister for holding and dispensing articles. The blister package includes a backing and a blister defining an opening and having an integral, re-closable closure for selectively covering the opening. The closure may include snap elements that can be snap-fitted into notches in the blister for securely retaining the blister in a closed position. Optionally, the closure may joined to the blister by an integral, flexible fastener, which may be a strap and/or a living hinge. A method of packaging an article in a blister package includes: (a) forming a plastic blister, (b) forming an opening in the blister, and (c) forming a closure integral with the blister for covering the opening.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 22, 2008Publication date: March 25, 2010Applicant: DISPLAY PACK, INC.Inventors: Marc R.
