  • Patent number: 11561421
Abstract: Various embodiments of the present technology enable growth of a-axis oriented barium titanate (BTO) films by inserting a relaxed strain control layer having a larger lattice constant than the c-axis of BTO and a similar thermal expansion mismatch. As a result, in-plane tensile stress causes BTO to grow with its ferroelectric polarization in-plane. Some embodiments allow for BTO films to immediately be grown on silicon with a-axis orientation, and without the need to create thick layers for relaxation. Using various embodiments of the present technology, the BTO can be grown in-plane with minimal dislocation density that is confined to the interface region.

  • Patent number: 5989032
Abstract: Dental post to be fitted, particularly, within a dental cavity (3) comprises axial and longitudinal stiffening elements (7). At least a portion of the stiffening elements which is to be fixed within the cavity (3) comprises, at least at its periphery, a curable product (9) capable of yielding under an applied force so as to conform to the walls of the cavity in which it is located. The product is curable after being introduced into the cavity.

  • Patent number: 5797748
Abstract: The present invention relates to a tooth prothesis made of composite material and to a process for fabricating said prothesis. The prothesis is characterized in that it is comprised of a central core (3), made of at least one bunch of fibers (5), for example glass fibers, the core being wrapped by a sheath (7) comprised of at least one layer of oriented, isotropic or non isotropic fibers (8a, 8b, 8c) , the fibers (5) of the central core (3) and the fibers of the sheath (7) being embedded in a curable resin, the fibers (8a, 8b, 8c) of the sheath (7) being oriented in a given angle with respect to the longitudinal axis (yy') of the prothesis (1), so as to adjust to desired respective values the longitudinal and transverse traction resistance of the prothesis (1).

  • Patent number: 5328372
Abstract: A crown-root reconstitution system and method of manufacturing a physiological dental securing peg in which a crown reconstituting material (3) is placed between a peg (1) and sound dentine walls (2a). The peg is formed of a composite material and includes high strength fibers (5) embedded parallel to one another, elongated in its axial direction, continuous from one end to the other end thereof. An epoxy resin matrix is formed, and a transverse modulus of elasticity of the order of magnitude of the average of that of the dentine in the amount of 18 GPa and a longitudinal compression-tensile strength and shear strength greater than corresponding average values for the dentine is provided by tensioning all of the fibers equally and pre-stressing all of the fibers in traction.

  • Patent number: 4738616
Abstract: In an assembly constituted by a drill and a tenon for anchoring a dental prosthesis adapted to be fixed in the root of a tooth the drill has a diameter slightly larger than that of the tenon at all points along its length. The tenon and the drill have similar meridian profiles and each is constituted by two coaxial cylindro-conical parts of large and small diameters respectively, the cylindro-conical part of small diameter comprising a cylindrical part connected to the small base of the conical frustum of the cylindro-conical part of large diameter projecting out of the root of the tooth. The tenon and the drill terminate respectively in their truncated end part of small diameter, of which the angle of taper is selected so as to ensure a wedging of the truncated end part of small diameter of the tenon in the corresponding truncated end part of the drilled hole. Futher the truncated end part of the tenon as a length shorter than that of the drill.
