  • Publication number: 20160274904
Abstract: Embodiments of the inventive concept provide a system and method for gamifying community driven open source software development projects, thereby spurring innovation and quality open source and freely available products. Embodiments of the inventive concept not only incentivizes the most desired tasks, such as coding, but also the less desirable actions like code review, documentation, quality assurance, testing, security analysis, and the like. In this manner, all steps along the software development path can be incentivized. Even scheduling and meeting deadlines for enhancements, bug fixes, and security auditing can benefit from an award system. Embodiments include a development gamification system including a user interface logic section to provide a development gamification interface to incentivize a community of users to develop open source software projects.

  • Publication number: 20080037214
Abstract: One embodiment is a computer chassis for housing modules of a computer system. According to this embodiment, the chassis features a chassis base, first and second bays for first and second motherboards, a fan assembly for mounting fans, a backplane for I/O connections mounted to the chassis base, and at least two compartments for electronic components. The first bay and the second bay are laterally adjacent so that, when in use, the first and second motherboards are in substantially the same plane. The fan assembly is mounted to the chassis base so that, when in use, fans in the fan assembly cause airflow in a substantially lateral direction over the first and second bays. The two compartments for electronic modules are laterally to the side of and in substantially the same plane as the first and second bays.

  • Publication number: 20080037209
Abstract: One embodiment of the invention is a computer chassis for housing modules of a computer system. According to this embodiment, the chassis features a chassis base, a first tray for a motherboard removably engaged with the chassis base, and a second tray for a motherboard removably engaged with the chassis base. The second tray is oriented above the first tray when engaged in the chassis base. This embodiment also features a plurality of drawers for storage equipment, such as hard drives, where each drawer is removably engaged with the chassis base. The drawers are oriented laterally to the first and second trays in the chassis base.

  • Publication number: 20070165618
Abstract: A network switch is provided whereby the vertical dimension of the network switch is larger than the horizontal dimension of the network switch. The network switch is further capable of being mounted vertically on a server rack. Further, the network switch comprises a controller module and a power supply module allowing the network switch to route incoming data to a receiving location. Using the vertical network switch reduces cable length, simplifies layout, increases port density, improves the appearance of the server rack and reduces the overall cost of operating the vertical network switch and network.

  • Publication number: 20070099494
Abstract: A patch panel is provided whereby the patch panel can be mounted vertically on a standard rack. The patch panel can contain a plurality of network ports for connecting at least two devices together. The vertical patch panels of the present invention allow for reduction of cable lengths, simplification of the layout, increases in port density, aesthetic benefit due to symmetry of cabling, and significant reduction of overall total cost of ownership.
