  • Publication number: 20040076949
Abstract: Assay methods are disclosed having utility in the identification of therapeutic agents effective against human hepatitis C virus and related viruses. NS3 protein derived from these viruses, representing a native and authentic version of the complete protein sequence, is used in the assay methods of the invention, which enables identification and development of anti-viral agents exhibiting inhibition of the protein's NTPase and RNA helicase activities.
    Type: Application
    Filed: October 10, 2003
    Publication date: April 22, 2004
Inventors: Marc S. Collett, Daniel C. Pevear, James M. Groarke, Dorothy C. Young

  • Patent number: 4735800
Abstract: Methods and compositions are provided for the cloning and expression of Rift Valley Fever Virus genes in single cell host organisms. Also described are methods for culturing these novel single-cell organisms to produce Rift Valley Fever Virus gene gene products which may be formulated for use as products which may be formulated for use as immunogens in vaccines to protect against Rift Valley Fever Virus infections.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 23, 1984
Date of Patent: April 5, 1988
    Assignee: Molecular Genetics, Inc.
Inventors: Marc S. Collett, Anthony F. Purchio
  • Patent number: 4661450
Abstract: Methods and compositions for the insertion and molecular cloning of RNA in DNA cloning vectors are described. RNA molecules to be cloned are modified by the ligation of oligonucleotide linkers onto the termini of the RNA molecule using T4 RNA ligase. Such linkers may be composed of DNA, RNA, or mixtures of each and facilitate the insertion and ligation of the RNA species into a DNA cloning vector. The resulting recombinant vectors are used to transform host cells which provide for the generation of multiple DNA copies of the RNA molecule.
