Abstract: A rotor assembly has: blades having airfoils and roots protruding from platform segments; a rotor disc having a peripheral face defining recesses, and slots, a recess located between two adjacent ones of the slots and bounded by a step; feather seals located radially between the peripheral face and the platform segments, a feather seal having a core extending from a trailing end to a leading end and overlapping a gap defined between two platform segments and tabs protruding from the core, the tabs including: trailing tabs positioned axially outside the recess; and leading tabs, a leading tab extending from a root to a tip and having one or more of: the tip axially positioned outside of the recess; and a fillet at an intersection between the tip and an edge of the leading tab, the edge extending between the tip and the core, and facing the step.

Abstract: Method and system for the integrated securing and managing of virtual machines and virtual appliances are presented. Sealing the virtual appliance at the computer of a sender, verifying authenticity of the sender at a recipient computer and managing the execution of the VA are performed in a seamless fashion.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for defining and validating feature policies in an execution system, such as a communication system. The method includes entering user policies described in a straightforward manner (e.g. using a Web browser and user-understandable language) in such a way that they can be translated into a formal executable language. The user policies are then (translated into an executable feature language such as the IETE's CPL. The user is then either compelled or provided with an option to validate the overall feature set before the overall feature is uploaded to the execution system. If validation is selected, the features are translated from CPL into another format, such as FIAT, from which it is possible to detect common feature specification errors. That FIAT detected errors are then analyzed in a manner that is aware of the expectations and common errors of native users, and interpreted to determine possible errors as errors that are common to naïve users.

Abstract: A personal digital assistant (PDA) enabled telephony system is provided comprising a telephone set having a communication port and a personal digital assistant. The personal assistant includes a user interface for displaying telephony functions to a user; a detector for detecting a selected telephony function; a telephony application for determining a call command based on the selected telephony function; and a communicator for communicating said call command to the communication port. In response to receiving the call command, the telephone set executes the selected telephony function.

Abstract: A teaching system comprising student and teacher computer stations which are serially connected in a closed loop circuit. Each student computer and the teacher station comprises a computer device having an associated video monitor connectable thereto via an interface unit. A teacher controller device is provided at the teacher control station and has an output connected to the interface units to transmit an information network signal thereto to condition the interface units to place its associated student computer station to a preselected mode. A keyboard is associated with the controller device at the teacher control station for selecting the mode. A visual display on the controller indicates the selected mode to the teacher.

Abstract: Making a cable core unit in which pairs of twisted conductors are formed upon individual twisting machines, the twisted conductor pairs then fed `in-line` to a core forming device by passing the pairs through a tension reducing means which reduces tension in each pair while allowing the lengths of the pairs to be different from pair-to-pair as they move into the core forming device. Built-in tensions and twisted core units are thus avoided. Also provided is a tension equalizing device which averages out the tensions between conductor pairs.

Abstract: Twisting machine with a guide pulley for filamentary material and which is rotatable about its own axis and about a second axis causing air to impinge on one of the pulley sides. Impeller surfaces extend inwardly from the pulley rim to axis in rotating the pulley because of air impingement. Conveniently, the impeller surfaces are formed on spokes of the pulley.
