    Abstract: A workshop system, with a plurality of diagnostic and/or programming devices, which are networked by means of data links and are intended for vehicles is provided. In order to enhance the reliability of workshop systems of the prior art, a warning indicating the occurrence of an event, which requires that a workshop employee intervene at a moment's notice at a first diagnostic and/or programming device of the networked devices is forwarded, as an alternative or in addition, to a second or an additional diagnostic and/or programming device to be communicated to the workshop employee.

    Abstract: A system of control devices communicate by way of one or more databuses of a motor vehicle. The system exhibits at least two diagnostics access points, by way of which the state of at least one of the control devices is diagnose˜ on the basis of a diagnostics request message; in particular, an error memory entry of a control device is requested by way of one of the diagnostics access points and is transmitted to the outside. A diagnostics request message, which is fed to the system by way of the first diagnostics access point, is recognized as such by an identification and forwarding system and is transmitted to a checking system. The checking system checks at least the authenticity of the diagnostics request messages and, optionally, forwards it to that control device, for which the diagnostics request message is intended.

    Abstract: In the case of a method of communicating between a motor vehicle and a diagnostic unit, a wireless communication connection is established between the motor vehicle and the diagnostic unit after an authorization of the diagnostic unit has been checked. The diagnostic unit is connected with a vehicle key assigned to the motor vehicle, and the authorization of the diagnostic unit is checked by use of authorization data stored in the vehicle key. A diagnostic unit for implementing such a method has devices for connecting with a vehicle key assigned to the motor vehicle. The diagnostic unit is suitable for receiving authorization data from the vehicle key, for the indirect or direct wireless communication with the motor vehicle, and for proving its authorization with respect to the motor vehicle by way of the received authorization data.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for programming of a control device of a motor vehicle, in which the control device includes at least one program-controlled processor and at least two individually addressable memory areas, in particular at least two physically separated memory components. In order to accelerate the inputting of memory contents the invention suggests that the processor carries out or brings about the following two steps at least intermittently largely simultaneously. On the one hand, checking whether programs, program parts and/or data already written into the first memory area correspond to the data to be written into the first memory area, and on the other hand, writing a program, a program part and/or data into the second memory area.
