  • Publication number: 20220361308
Abstract: In one aspect, a device is adapted to transmitting power to, or receive power from, a remote device over first and second communication lines (DALI+, DALI?) and to communicate with the remote device over the first and second communication lines. A first driver implements a first communications protocol which comprises coupling the first and second communication lines together to encode a first signal level and isolating the first and second communication lines from each other to encode a second signal level. This may be a DALI protocol. A second driver implements a second communications protocol which comprises modulating the first communication line with a signal having a low modulation depth. The second communications protocol means there is always a voltage difference between the two communication lines to enable continuous power harvesting. A second aspect relates to efficient power transfer by disabling a current limiter function, when possible.

  • Publication number: 20220256678
Abstract: Following the trend of IoT, more and more sensors and/or to network devices may be connected to a control network. This enables more advanced functionality but also may result in contradictory control commands being generated by different network devices. A distributed master control device election method, and the related system and devices, are disclosed. Among others a control device (200, 200a, 200b, 200c) is disclosed to connect to a control network (110), it sends a local beacon message with information on a local hierarchy level associated with the control device itself within a first period of time, to announce the presence of the control device to devices on the network, and monitors the network (110) during the first period of time for detecting potential beacon messages from other devices on the network.

  • Patent number: 10785848
Abstract: The invention provides a lighting system and a lighting control component for such a system. The components are battery-operated, and include a remote control signal receiver for receiving commands and configurations during commissioning. A disabling system is provided for enabling and disabling the remote control signal receiver, such that the remote control signal receiver is enabled when a commissioning process of the lighting system is expected and disabled when a commissioning process of the lighting system is not expected. This reduces the power consumption of the component after the commissioning is complete but provides ease of use during commissioning.

  • Patent number: 10667368
Abstract: A timing circuit (24), in particular a real time clock circuit, in a lighting device (10) that is periodically (17) powered from a main power supply (15) in accordance with a power supply cycle having a power-on time and a power-off time, is automatically synchronized in case the power condition of an auxiliary power supply (23) is insufficient to assume correct operation of the timing circuit (24). At each power-on of the power supply cycle, a power condition of the auxiliary power supply (23) is monitored. If the determined power condition exceeds a set power threshold, it is assumed that the momentary timing value of the timing circuit (24) is correct and this value is stored in a non-volatile memory (29), If the determined power condition gives rise to assuming malfunctioning of the timing circuit (24), for example due to absence of power for a longer time, the timing circuit (24) is synchronised to the stored timing value.

  • Patent number: 10448488
Abstract: A lighting control module comprises an interface for receiving a dimming setting and a memory for storing the dimming setting. Based on the dimming setting, an output circuit generates a dimming control signal for application to a conventional dimming interface of a lighting driver circuit. For this purpose, power is received from the dimming interface. This provides a simple to use way to implement a controllable brightness, which makes use of a dimming driver but used for a luminaire which does not need to be within a networked dimmable system architecture.
