Abstract: The apparatus of the present invention serves to stun animals prior to slaughter, these being introduced with a gondola into a pit. On a sidewall of the pit is/are designed a gas module, preferably a plurality of gas modules. Each gas module comprises a gas introduction line having a multitude of pores through which an anaesthetic gas can flow laterally into the pit. The multitude of pores ensures a laminar inflow of the anaesthetic gas. The lateral laminar inflow of the anaesthetic gas avoids an increase in the stress of the animals being stunned, thus enabling humane stunning prior to slaughter. At the same time, the modular construction by means of the gas modules facilitates simple dimensioning of the gas introduction capacities required and also the construction and retrofitting of corresponding apparatuses.

Abstract: A method for stunning animals and a respective stunning system is disclosed. Animals are lowered in a cradle into a pit filled with anoxic stunning gas. The cradle is provided with a heat sink, preferably comprising solid carbon dioxide, for cooling the stunning gas in the pit resulting in a density increase of the stunning gas in the pit. This reduces demixing of the stunning gas and rising of components such as nitrogen (N2) usually having a lower density than the air surrounding the stunning system.

Abstract: An apparatus for cooling fresh concrete using a frame through which the fresh concrete can flow and at least one spoke arranged in the frame. Wherein the at least one spoke has at least one nozzle for discharging a coolant into the fresh concrete. The coolant may be liquid nitrogen or liquid carbon dioxide. The coolant may be introduced into fresh concrete in such a way that the coolant is enclosed by the fresh concrete. In this way, the fresh concrete can be cooled efficiently without large amounts of the coolant being released into the environment and without the fresh concrete becoming so cold in places that damage to, for example, the transport vehicle can occur. The apparatus may be used, in particular, when filling the transport vehicle.

Abstract: Method and installation (100) for providing a batch of fresh concrete having a temperature in a predetermined temperature range at a remote point of use, whereby a control unit (140) controls at least one step of cooling of cement and/or aggregate and/or mixing water before mixing and/or of the fresh concrete, during the production of the batch.
