  • Patent number: 5843559
Abstract: An insulating fiber mat is comprised of a plurality of fibers bound together by a binder means and distributed throughout the mat. At least some of the fibers throughout the mat are inclined. The inclined fibers on opposed sides of a central horizontal plane of the mat have opposed angles of inclination. This permits the fiber mat to be easily separated substantially along the central horizontal plane by applying a pulling force on one side of the mat in the direction of the inclined fibers.

  • Patent number: 5766531
Abstract: A fiber mat as well as its method of fabrication and forming machine are described. The fiber mat comprises a plurality of fibers which are limitations bound together and distributed throughout the mat, and wherein some of the fibers are inclined towards a central horizontal plane of the mat. The inclined fibers on opposed sides of the mat have opposed angles of inclination whereby the mat, when used as insulation, can be easily separated substantially along the central horizontal plane by applying a pulling force on one side or opposed sides of the mat in the direction of the inclined fibers. The forming machine is characterized by having two forming surfaces, one disposed horizontally and the other vertically whereby the mat is formed with higher density towards the opposed flat horizontal surfaces of the mat and the lower density is distributed along the central horizontal plane.

  • Patent number: 4865107
Abstract: A double-glazed window apparatus for use at a sloped angle is disclosed having an insulating roller shade assembly extendable between the glazings in a U-shaped loop for insulating or shading. The apparatus includes supports for holding the sheet in spaced relation to the glazing and maintaining defined air spaces for insulation. A lower portion of the sheet is supported by stationary supports while an upper portion is supported by cross bars attached to the sheet and riding on slideways along both side edges thereof.

  • Patent number: 4231202
Abstract: A system for filling double-glazed panels such as large windows and double layered greenhouse walls with preferably granular material for insulation, shading, and/or privacy. This system is characterized by filling the interspace without blowing the conveying gas in the latter thereby avoiding the occurrence of damaging gas pressure in the interspace and allowing the use of relatively thinner glazing sheets of glass, plastic, or the like. This system also allows to sequentially and/or selectively fill any number of panel sections connected to the bottom side of a common header which fills the panel sections by settling of the granular material therein and in the panel sections through apertures in the bottom of the header. The panel sections are sequentially and/or selectively evacuated by an evacuation duct underlying the lower edge portion of the panel sections.
