  • Publication number: 20230394259
Abstract: A method for reading a one-dimensional optical code, wherein image data including the code are captured and a plurality of grayscale value profiles through the code are obtained from the image data, a black-and-white profile is formed from the grayscale value profiles by binarization, and the code content of the code is read from the black-and-white profile, wherein, for preparing the binarization, a sharpened grayscale value profile is first generated from the plurality of grayscale value profiles, the sharpened grayscale value profile having, as compared to the original image data, increased resolution, sharper edges, and more pronounced extrema, and the sharpened grayscale value profile is binarized to form the black-and-white profile.

  • Publication number: 20230196808
Abstract: A method of reading an optical code is provided in which a brightness profile of the code is recorded, light and dark part regions are identified in the brightness profile, and the code content of the optical code is read, First sum measurements for the light quantity in the respective light part regions and second sum measurements for the light quantity lacking for a white level in the respective dark part regions are determined from the brightness profile and the code content is read based on the first and second sum measurements.

  • Patent number: 11182578
Abstract: A method for determining a module size of an optical code (20), wherein image data with the code (20) are detected, a brightness distribution is determined from the image data, and the module size is determined from the brightness distribution. The brightness distribution for example is a greyscale histogram.

    Assignee: SICK AG
Inventors: Pascal Schüler, Marcel Hampf, Fredrik Olsson
  • Patent number: 11170191
Abstract: A code reader for the reading of optical codes is provided that has an image sensor for the detection of image data with the code and that has a control and evaluation unit that is configured to read the code with at least one decoding method, wherein the control and evaluation unit is connected to a distance sensor that determines a distance value for the distance of the code. The control and evaluation unit is further configured for the purpose of setting at least one parameter and/or including at least one additional algorithm of the decoding method for the decoding method in dependence on the distance value.
