  • Patent number: 5051871
Abstract: Electrical and electro-optical components are mounted on cards in various different sizes assembled to constitute working equipment using a set of common parts for building modular functional blocks of various sizes to house such cards. A modular functional block comprises one or more fixing bases each having a rectangular body having ends which engage respective retaining strips having grooves to form a printed circuit card-retaining frame. End plates are fitable to the various component parts mentioned above together with locking strips and closure cards to constitute a completed, enclosed functional block which can be built up to various different sizes.

  • Patent number: 4832439
Abstract: A rapid fixing device for a tubular element, in particular for the housing (1) of an optical fiber terminal block. The tubular element penetrates into the housing (1) along an inlet duct (9A3, 9A4, 9A5) in which it is fixed by a moving member (2) having a clamping slot, the moving member being movable in translation along a guide (10A1) which intersects the inlet duct. The device includes an arrangement for displacing the moving member under the effect of partial axial rotation of the blade of a tool (19) of the screwdriver type. Two operating ducts, one in the housing and the other in the moving member co-operate to convert the rotary movement of the tool into translation movement of the moving member.

  • Patent number: 4802725
Abstract: The device comprises a parallelpipedal junction block (10A) with opening onto one of its surfaces a respective channel (11A) each housing one of a plurality of opto-electronic components (9). The junction block further comprises a single groove (12A) opening onto the opposite surface and a support member (13A) and a sealing member (14A) superposed one on the other in the groove. The support members and the sealing members each have a channel aligned with each channel of the junction block, to accommodate respective optical fibers (4) to connect to the opto-electronic components. Each fiber which is fitted with a terminal (5) with a collar (5') intermediate its ends. A metal sleeve (17A) with resilient longitudinal tongues (18A) is fitted in each channel of the support member to lock the fiber in position by snap-action engagement of the tongues under the collar.

  • Patent number: 4755018
Abstract: A connector for optical fibers, the connector comprising two complementary portions (1A, 1B) each including at least one semi-tubular extension suitable for forming a split tube with the corresponding semi-tubular extension on the other complementary portion with which it is assembled. Said tube carries an external locking ring (3) which surrounds the tube and which, when suitably positioned, serves to urge the semitubular extensions towards each other, thereby enabling at least one optical fiber inserted into the tube to be clamped in place.

  • Patent number: 4712863
Abstract: A junction block for end-to-end interconnection of two optical fibers, said block comprising two identical parts (1) assembled face-to-face and forming a block having a fiber-receiving duct (13) passing therethrough, said duct being built up from two half ducts each running along a corresponding one of said parts, said duct being suitable for receiving two fibers inserted into respective ends thereof, and for positioning the cores of said two fibers in end-to-end alignment inside a mid guide portion thereof (13E), and for holding said fibers in place by clamping their respective coatings inside two retaining members (13B1, 13B2) of the duct which are located adjacent to respective ends thereof and each of which is constituted by two half-members which are resiliently separable to enable a fiber to be connected to pass therethrough in order to properly position the core of said fiber for interconnection with the core of the other fiber.

  • Patent number: 4466682
Abstract: A terminal block equipped with connection parts which avoid the necessity of stripping the connecting wires. The terminal block (1) has a groove (13) inside which is accommodated firstly at least one connection part (3) whose lips (30, 30') form an automatic stripping and blocking slot in the axis of the groove and secondly a pusher (2) which can be manipulated from the outside and can move in translation in the groove (13) between a partial interpenetration position with the part (3) and a position allowing the insertion of suitable wire (4) between said pushing piece and the part (3). The invention relates to electric connection and more particularly to the connection of energy distribution wires.
