    Abstract: Disclosed herein are a retrofit device adapted to upgrade bioreactor systems that require at least partially manual addition of liquids, and a method for using the retrofit device with the bioreactor systems. The retrofit device automatically adds the liquids by weight to the bioreactor vessels according to a protocol or procedure. The retrofit device also includes a valve that in the event of power cut-off automatically closes to prevent unintentional addition of liquids.
