  • Publication number: 20120092863
Abstract: A light-output system (1), for forming a controllable pattern (10) of illuminated spots (11a-b) in a distant projection plane (3). The light-output system (1) comprises a plurality of individually controllable light-output devices (6a-c) arranged in an array (5) of light-output devices with a light-output device pitch (PLS), and an optical system (7) arranged between the array (5) of light-output devices and the projection plane (3). The optical system (1) is configured to project light emitted by the array (5) of light-output devices in the projection plane (5) as a projected array of illuminated spots (11a-c) having a projection pitch (Pspot) that is larger than the light-output device pitch (PLS). Using this light-output system, practically all of the luminous power output by the light-output devices is used for projecting the light patterns.

  • Publication number: 20120075856
Abstract: The invention relates to an array of light generators where each light generator comprises reflecting collimation optics in the form of curved mirrors for collimating light emitted by light sources such as surface mounted Light Emitting Diodes. The collimation optics is formed to collimate light in a direction parallel with a plane, e.g. a printed circuit board, onto which the light sources are mounted. The light sources may emit light parallel with the direction of collimation or non-parallel, e.g. perpendicular, with the direction of collimation in which case the collimation optics redirects the light rays from the light source. The array of light generators can be used in combination with a television display for creating a pixelated image appearing to the viewer as an image peripherally surrounding the display.

  • Publication number: 20110164036
Abstract: An autostereoscopic display device comprising a view forming module in registration with an image forming means. The image forming means has an orthogonal array of display pixels spatially defined by an opaque matrix. The view forming module provides at least two optical functions, namely a view forming function and a brightness non-uniformity reducing function. The view forming function modifies the direction of outputs of the display pixels such that the outputs of groups of the display pixels are projected in respective different directions as a plurality of views. The view forming function is provided by an array of parallel lenticular lenses arranged across the view forming module and having a first pitch. The brightness non-uniformity reducing function spreads the outputs of the display pixels such that brightness non-uniformities caused by imaging of the opaque matrix are reduced.
